Fayetteville City Council met in regular sessiom, Monday, September 150 1947•
?resent: Mayor G.T.Sanders, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dicksdn, City
engineer E.T.Brown, and Aldermen: Hale, Adkisson, Harlan, Bohe; Williams, Whitfield,
Yhits and Gray.
Minutes of the regular meeting of September 2nd and Special Meeting of
>eptember 8th were read and approved.

62,between South School Street and.Government Avenue for the use and for the safety o
children from west of School Stree't,.who.attend the South School, came up for discussio
and it was broyght out that there is a walk at the present time, extending from Governm
Avenue to the alley east of Hale's Hatchery,•it was further brought.out that in a wet t
the children are forced to use the Highway from the.east end of the present walk to Sch
Street, which creates a very dangerous traffic hazzard, alderman Gray Made a motion tha

and that the City Clerk be directed to notify the prdperty.owners, Herman and Tom Eason
this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Counei

RESOLVED, that the City Council of the Cfty of Fayettevills request, that the
H spital Board of the Fayetteville City Hospital fully explore -the possibility of joint
a forts of the City, County and University of Arkansas in.providing a jointly owned and
operated Hospital, and make.the;:sesulta publis

g The Mayor reported that there wasi ,$Ol�'e� • t' omplaint from the Boston
Store and the First National Bank, with refernee to the present PARKING SPACES being use
by the UNIVERSITY CITY BUS LINES and.the NORTHWEST ARKANSAS TRANSPORTATION LIMES, INC.,
after discussion, Alderman Williams made a motionethat the matter be referred to the
Street Committee, with poeer to act, this motion was seconded by Alderman Hale, and was
passed unanimously by the Council*
The Mayor reported that he thought it very neseseary that the Council
arrange for as many as can, to attend the Annual mebtng of the Arkansas Municipal Leaguf
to be held in Little Rock on Septmber 23rd, and 24th, after diectasion, Alderman Hale
made a mo$ion that the arrangement for members of the Council to attend, be referred
to the Mayor, this motion was seconded by Alderman.White, and was passed unanimously by
the Council*
Alderman Bohe introduced an Ordinance, entitled, " AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF PARKING METERS IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES;
The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, Alderman
White made a motion that the rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second
reading, this motion was seconded by Alderman Adkisson, and was passed unanimously by t2
Council.
The Clerk then read the ordinance, and after discuss4on, it was'deoided
to leave it on the second reading.
There being no further business,Alderman Hale moved to adjourn, seconde
by Alderman Williama, which was duly passed by the Couni6ill, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.
