It was noted that do account of the Commencement exercises at the University here was no quorum present, and alderman Williams made a motion that the Council adjoin gill 8 O'Clock Tuesday June 10, tHis motion was seconded by alderman White, and was passed unanimously by the Council,.'and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned till 8 O'Clock Tuesday, June 19th, 1947. Hale,Adkissbp, Bohe,:.Viilliams&..White.aNdys�:cfuay.The Mayor declared passed, as there were 5 Ayes & 1 Nay, U OF A A petition of the University of Arkansas was presented, asking that a portion of an alley located between lots One and Fqur, and between Three and Four,and }requests between the south 15ft•of lots five and six, all in Block A of Leverett',s Addition after closing discussion, alderman Bohe introduced the following Resolution: of an `+ ABpn po�1yD� �%Au►tti11• alley WHEREAS , the University of Arkansas has petitioned the City Council to abandon and. vacate a portion of unused alley described in said petition,and it is necessary to publish notice thereof for two weeks, IT IS RESOLVED that said petition shall be heard by the Council at its regular meeting on July 7th, 1947, and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish the notice once each week for two consecutive weeks, Alderman Hale moved the adoption of said resolution, seconded by alderman Williams which was passed unanimously by the Council: To buy I Alderman Adkisson made a motion that the Mayor be authorized to purchase a M for motor cycle for the use of the Police Department, and to hire an extra patrolman for C cle & traffic work, this motion was seconded by alderman Williams, ans was passed unanimously hire by the Council. Traffic Alderman Williams made a motion that the City re-imburse the Volunteer Firemen man the amount of $$25.000 for a TROPHY they had purchased to be used as a prize,N.,4* (Trophy)the contest for the Fire Departments at their district meetings, this motion was seconddl 1by alderman White, and was passed unanimously by the Council lderman Bohe introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE READJUSTING SEWER SERVICE BARGES IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS ON A PRO RATA BASIS AMENDING SECTION ONE F ORDINANCE 891 OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER UR P OSES ." The Ordinance was read`',in its entirety by the Clerk, alderman' Adkisson made a otion that the rules be suspended and the Ordinance place on its second rearing, this otion was seconded by alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion, alder an Hale made a motion that the rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on it hird and final reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Bohe, and was passed unanim y the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. he.Mayor then put the question " Shall the Ordinance pass"7, and•on roll call by the Cle he following vote was recorded; Ayes: Hale, Adkisson, Bohe, Williams, White and Gray. ayy : None. Absent and not voting: Harlan and Whitfield.* and the Mayor declared the rdinanee passed, as there were 6 Ayes, ana no Nays. Alderman Adkisson made a motion that the emergency clause be adopted, this otion was seonded by alderman Williams, and on roll call by the Clerk, the follwing vot +has recorded ; Ayes: Hale, Adkisson, Bohe, Williams, White and Gray. Nay§:None. Absent and not voting: Harlan and Whitfield. And the Mayor declared the emergency clause adopte s there were 6 Ayes, and no Nays. ORDINANCE N0. 9 -1 -7 - AN ORDINANCE READJUSTING SEWER SERVICE CHARGES IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, 4RKANSASS ON A PRO RATA BASIS AMENDING SECTION ONE OF CRDINABCE 891 OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AND FCR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That Section 1 of Ordinance Number 891 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas be amended to read, as follows: 't Sedtion 1: That the followdng be fixed for the rates to be charged for Sewer Service by the Sewer System of the City se extehdediaiid improved, which the Counci finds are reasonable -and necessary rates to be charged;. 1$0.75, per month for each residence or duplex. pnnected with and served by the 1.50 per month for eadh three family unit dwelling hopse connected with and served by t. The City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas here -by declares hat the funds to be raised under Section 1 of this ordinance are necessary for the protection )f public peace, health and safety'in order to provide anadequate sewage system and disposal' )lant gor the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas and accordingly declares that an emergency %xists and this ordinance shall be effective on and after the,lst day of July, 1947.
