Present: Mayor G.T.Sanders,.City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Geo.Vaughans City Engii E.T.Brown, and aldermen, White, Stubblefield, Williams, Bohe, Adkisson and Hale. Absent aldermen Bronson and Gregory. Minutes of the regular meeting of January 6th, were read and approved. The Mayor reported that the City Attorney, Geo.Vaughan'had•accepted a position eo Vaug-as teacher in the University of Arkansas, effective February 1st, and had turned in his an , resignation as City Attorney, effective January the 18th, in order that some one might esigns ile as a candidate for the place in the regular PRIMARY ELECTION to be held on February s 18th, alderman Hale made a motion that the resignation be accepted, seconded.by alderman ty Atty Williams, which was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Hale made a•motion-that Geo.Vauhan be employed as SPECIAL CITY ATTORNE till February 1st, this mottion was seconded by alderman Whites and was passed unanimous: Reports The Council; The Clerk presented the December reports of the Eoliee Departmentsand the Decem fber and annual report of Henry George as Acting Chief -of the Fire Department, alderman �dkisson made a motion that the reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Stub blefields which was passed unanimously by the Council. There tieing no further business, alderman Stubblefield moved to adjourn, sec( by aiderman Hale, which was duly passed by the Councils and the Mayor declared the Cour adjourned. (Out-Door ad made a request to place one of his signs on a part of the property onwned by the advertor on itry, on Highway -No 62, after discusssion, alderman Williams made a motion that the matt rbe ment referred to the Street Committee, with poeer to det,"this motion was seconded by alde City Propman Adkisson, and was passed unanimously by the Council. erty , The Mayor reported that he had just been informed by Smeller & Eason that th City Seale�cales they had been using for the last 25 or 30 years belonged to the City, and -that �at Smelser & Eason had made a requ%t for the City to have them repaired, after discussion, alderman Hale made a motion that the matter be referred to the Mayor and Street Committe Telser & with power to acts this motion was seconded by alderman Adkisson, and was passed unanimc ason by the Council. Alderman White made a motion that a "NO PARKING ZONH" be established on the West No Parkin side of North Gregg Street from Dickson to Ida Street, this motion was seconded by alder egg Stubblefield, and was passed unanimously by the Council. St Alderman Stubblefield made a motion that a " NO PARKING.ZONE" be established on No Parking the west side of StdrerAvenues between Maple^and Douglass Streets, this motion was secon Storer St by alderman Adkisson, and was passed unanimously by the Council. Ni Parking Alderman White made a motion that a " NO PARKING ZONE" be established on the SIBloek east side of South Block Street from%1Mountain`Street to--the!Al3ey back of"thecJ.C.Penney St Department Store, this motion was seconded by alderman_.Bohe,-.and was passed unanimously' by the Council. 1946 In regard to the 1946 audit for the City, the Mayor stated that he -had a bid c Audit x$350.00 from Mr. Wardlew, he, also stated that the 1945 audit cost the City $318.50, whi was made by Swofford & Co., after discussions alderman -Hale made a motion that the Mayor be authorized to make a contract with Mr.Swofford for the audit, with the understanding that the cost would not exceed $350.00, this motion was seconded by alderman Stubblef iel and was passed unanimously by the Council. City Offices Alderman Stubblefield made a motion that the City offices be closed Wednesday, to close January 22, in order that the employees may attend the Special Convocatiob , celebratinE for U of A the 75th anniversary of the University of Arkansas, this motion was seconded by alderman Anniver- White, and was gassed unanimously by the Council. There tieing no further business, alderman Stubblefield moved to adjourn, sec( by aiderman Hale, which was duly passed by the Councils and the Mayor declared the Cour adjourned.
