A Committee of business men, with Paul Lewis as spokesman appeared beforedthe ouncil with a request that they be permitted to help the Council solve their parking pr ems, after discussion, alderman Hale made a motion that the matter be referred to the S ommittee to confer with a committee from the Business Men, and submit their recommendat o the Council, this motion was seconded by alderman Bohe, and was passed unanimously by ouncila arvey joBuild1 oyce it was Harvey Joyce appeared before the Council with reference to the establishment of lines for some res&dences to be constructed in City Park Addition, after discussion, aided to refer the matter to the Building Inspector* sell tank Alderman Gregory reported -that he had an offer of $100.00 for a tank at the City t C.Park Park,which was not being used, alderman Hale made a motion that alderman Gregory be authorized to sell the tank for $100.00, this motion was seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and was passed I nanimously by the Council* ire Dept Alderman Williams reported that the Fire Department was needing some 24. hose, o buy after discussion, alderman Stubblefield made a motion that the matter be.referred to the ose Fire Committee, with power to act, this motion was secmnded by alderman Adkisson, and received I he unanimous vote of the Council* to I The Mayor repoeted that he had two men, who had agreed to sweep the streeta,1_. beginning at mid -night, and working till 8 O'clock A.M., and using the truck that the day- s Frew were using, at a salary of $85.00 per week,(consisting.of 6 days), alderman Hale made a motion to approve this agreement, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously y the Council* Alderman Stubblefield introduced an ORDINANCE; entitled, " AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE ALLEY BETWEEN BLOCK FIVE AND BLOCK SIX IN GUNTER S ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAY- �TZ+EVILLE, ARKANSAS, VACATING IT, AND PROVIDING FOR DISPOSITION OF SAME. The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Gregory made motion that the rules becsuspended,.and the Ordinance placed on ots second reading, this otion was seconded by alderman Hale, and received the unanimous vote of the Council. CF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS ,VACATING IT., AND PROVIDING FOR DISPOSITION CF SAME. WHEREAS, a petition to close an alley as described below was presented to the City Council, having been signed by all property owners adjoining said alley, and WHEREAS, said petition was approved by the Council and notice of hearing land proper publication of said notice was.made, and WHEREAS, on the date set for the hearing on said petition, no objections v heard, and •... t WHEREAS, the City Cou0cil of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is of the opinion that it is fitting and proper that the said alley be closed, and that it would t to the beat interests of the City of Fayetteville and to the property owners involved tl the said alley be closed, NOVI THEREFORE, BE IT ]ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEV: ARKANSAS, that the alley running in an east and west direction between Block Fiveland B] Six in Gunter's Addition to the City of Fayetteville,.Arkansas, be fbrevdr vacated and < and that title to the said lands included in the alley be vested according to law* Passed and approved this 29th day of April, 1946. Alderman Stubblefield introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE Hog TO PEMIT THE KEEPING OF HOGS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, Ordinance I ARKANSAS, SUBJECT TO CERTA IN RESTRICTIONS, AND TO REGULATE THEM. The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk,and alderman Hale made a Totion that the rules be suspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, ,and was passed unanimously by the Council. Honerable Mayor George T.Sanders City Council and Sewer Committee City of Fayetteville Fayetteville, Arkansas Dear Sirs: We have been advised by Mayor Sanders that the agreement relative to the divis- ion of the City funds between the Mcllroy Bank and the'First National Bank, entered int® on April 25th, 1946, and filed with the City Clerk, was not acceptable to your committees It is our understanding now that it is agreeable to you that the City funds be divided,between the -two banks as follows: the First National Bank will continue as active depository on all funds to January 1st, 1947, except the City Water account which shalll remain at ':the Mcllroy Bank, until January 1st, 1.949, and then be transferred to the First National Bank with all other active accounts. It is agreed that on June 1st, 1946, there r will be a.sufficient amount of funds transferred to the McIlroy Bank to equalize or where- by they will have one-half of the City Funds as an inactive depository* The City Clerk will furnisheach bank with a statement on the first of•each month showing the balance of the different accounts and to adjust the total deposits to equalize the same between the banks to the nearest thousand dollars if there is a diffrence of ten thousand dollars or no;e mare.. Also, it is agreed that on January 1st, 1947,•all the active accounts now held .by the First National Bank will be transferred to the McIlroy Bank for a period of two e.Acs years and the First National Bank will then carry one-half of the total City funds on an inactive basis. The proposition of placing some seats around the side walk outside the Post Office came up for discussion, and it was decided that any business houses interested in placing some of the seats as aforsaid, would be permitted to place their advertisements on the back of the seats they furnished. merchants interested were. invited to contact the Mayor.
