The Mayor reported that the Electrical Wiring at the City Park was inade Present: Mayor G.T.Sanders, City Clerk J.W.McGehee,'City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Brown, Building Inspector Henry George, aldermen; Gregory,'Banks, Stmbble- field, Williams and Hale. Absent: aldermen; Bronson, McRoy and Adkisson. Minutes of the adjourned meeting of February 11th, were read and approved. The Following bills wereupresented after their approval by alderman Williams, mew ber of the auditing committee: he reading by the Clerk, the Ordinance was left on its first reading. A Petition, containing the names of several property owners, was presented by the Clerk, protesting the mssuance of a BUILDING PERMIT to R.R.Logan to build or erebt a business house or structure on the Southwest corner of Lafayette Street and College Avenue, alderman Banks made a motion that a date for the hearing on said Petition be set for the next regular meeting of The Council on March 4th, 1946, this motion was seconded by alderman Hale, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Mayor stated that this was the date that had been set for the hearing on the application of Edmund R.Reed for a CERTIFICAR'E OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESS- ITY to operate a taxicab line in the City of Fayetteville, and after the reading of the application and the RESPONSE TO THE APPLICATION by the Clerk;°,�'fter the hearing which was conducted. by the Attorneys representMach side, alderman Banks made a motion that the matter be taken under advisement till the next regular meeting March 4th, 1946, XJa this motion was seconded by alderman gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council Alderman Hale made a motion that the check that had been received from the Government, amounting toas part pay for the Engineering work on the con- struction to be done at the Sewer Disposal Plant be paid to Carl Smith as a partial payment for his work, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unani- mously by the Council. The above waiver of notice was signed'by each member of the Council, a copy of which is on file in the City Clerk's office. Alderman Stubblefield introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE SUB- I+IITTINGTO THE ELECTORS OF TN_F CITY OF FAYE`1'TEVILLE, ARKANSAS, THE QUESTION OF ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TErfRITORY ADJAGENTT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CORPORATE LIIJITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS., AND FOR .OTHER PURPOSES. The Ordinance was read. in its entirety by the Clerk, alderman Bronson made a motion that the rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and on roll call by the Clerk the follwing vote was recorded; Ayes: Bronson, Gregory, Banks, Stubblefield, Williams, McRoy, Adkisson and Hale. Nays None. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion, alder. • man Gregory made a motion that the rules be further suspended and the Ordinabee placed on its third and final reading, this motion was seconded. by aldiman Williams, and on rol Call by the Clerk the following vote was recorded: Ayes: Bronson, 4regory, Stubblefield, Williams, McRoy, Adkdsson and Hale. VJHEREAS•, the requisite number of signers have filed a petition in the Count ourt of Washington County, Arkansas, prayingeamong other things, that the territory mown as " WANFFTAH HEIGHTS" contiguous and adjacent to the City of Fayetteville, Arkan- sas, be attached to, annexed and made a part of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and WHEREAS, all proceedure in connection with annexation by.the County Court as been completEd in all respects as required by law and the County Court has approved aid petition and more than thirty days has epapsed since the date of the approval of aid petition and no protests have been filed, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fayettevi rkansas: SECTION L. That the territory embraced in " WANFFTAH HEIGHTS" as the same ypears on the records of the Circuit Clerk and Ex -Officio Recorded of Washington County, Arkansas, be and the same is.hereby accepted, annexed and made a part of the City of Fayetteville, Arkamsas. SECTICNII. Said territory shall hereafter be known and designated as I'WANFETAH HEIGHTS"ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS," and the territory herein embraced_ is hereby made a part of Ward Three of the City of Fayetteville, Arkan- sas, and the residents thereof shall have all of the rights and privileges of residents I f the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
