The Clerk presented the December reports of Roy Nix, as SeWrer Service Coll'ecto, e Police Department, J.W.McGehee, as City Clerk and as City Collector, alderman Stubble- eld presented the report of the Water Department, alderman McRoy made a motion that thel ports be received and.filed, seconded by alderman Hale, which vias passed unanimously by e Council. The question of a contract with E.E.Saaift, as Manager of the City Park for the ar 19461 came up for discussion, and aldermansGreddry,madeea motion that he be given the ne kind of a contract as he had for the year 1945, Viz: That Mr Swift be paid 25% of oss receipts., to be paid $100.00 monthly, and at the end of the year, to be paid the 25 gross redeipts, less the $12.00.00, paid monthly, this motion was seconded by alderman Roy, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The question of a contract with the Humane Society for handling dogs and other umane animals, together with the question of raising the price pf the dog license for the year Society 11946, came up for discussion, alderman Gregory made a motion that the price of the dog li *rid cense remain atl4p .00 till the 1st of March, and that the Humane Society be paid 90% of rice of t e collections, �3bA 'beginning March 1st, a penalty of 50� be added to the price'of 06 tags t e license, and' that the Humane Society be paid 100% of the collections for the balance o the year, this motion was seconded by alderman Bronson, and on'roll call by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded: Ayes; Bronson, Gregory,'Williams, McRoy and Hale. Nays: Stubblefield. Absent and not voting Banks and Adkisson. And the mayor declared passed, as _there were 5 Ayes, and 1 Nay. Alderman Stubblefield made a motion that a warrant for $120.00 be paid to tPe Arkansas Municipal League for 1946 dues, this motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and was passed unanimously by the Council, I It equest For A Petition was presented by the Clerk, containing the names of•most of•th lts onProperty owners on East Mountain Street; between College and East Avenues, requesting som E1Mt St. more lights in that block, after discussion, alderman Hale made a motion that the matter be referred to the Light Committee and the Mayor,to see what could be worked out, and're- port back to the Council, this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, which was passed unanimously by the Council. & San- The Mayor reported some requests for an increase in the wages of the pts, Street and Sanitary Departments, also, in the salaries of the Police Department, after o pay dliscussion,. it was decided to postpone action on the request'of the Police Department;til O� per some investigation was made with refel ne to salaries in other towns, alderman Stubble - r, field made a motion that the men on the Street and Sanitary Departments be paid 50� per h this motion wa!g seconded by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council. 6.QiUg1g�' a%A Its 72¢ i,o " .
