The Clerk presented a letter from the ARKANSAS STATE FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION .'ay (requesting the Fire Department to pay membership dues for the year alderman Banks made al iremen motion thag a warrant be drawn for $1.00 per member for 25 members, this motion was seconded .ues by alderman Bronson, and was passed unanimously by the Council. OFtru@ICS Ut4lIRDI177) ne way The Mayor reported there was some complaint about congestion in the alleyal rive forfrom a number of truck drivers, since they were not permitted to unload from the front of 11 alleystores, alderman Banksfmade a motion that the matter be referred to bo the Street dommittiee, to work out a system of ONE WAY DRIVE for all the alleys around the Square, with power, to act, This motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimmusly by the Council. 0 PARKINGAlderman McRoy reported there was some complaint about congestion of traffic one on am Church Street,alderman Stubblefield made a motion that a " NO PARKING ZONE" be established hurch on the West side of Church street from Rock Street to Meadow street, this motion was seconded treet py alderman.Banks, and received the unanimous vote of the Council,' The Clerk presented the June report of Roy Nix, as Sewer Service Collector, alder - June McRoy made a motion that the -report be received and filed, seconded by alderman Stubblefiieldy report which was passediunanimously by the Council. Aldefman Gregory reported that the Masonic Lodge had turned down the propositia o purchase the East e of the 3rd floor of the City Administration Bldg. The Clerk presented the reportsof Henry George, as Building Inspector and as cting Chief of the Fire Department for the month of July, alderman Gregory made a motion hat the reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Hale, which was passed unani ously by the Council. Alderman Gregory, chairman of the comdiittgeothatthad been appointed to meet with a committee from the Chamber of Commerce, to study the proposition of -extending the Fire Bones, made a report of the recommendations of the -Joint Committees, aldefman McRoy made a motion that the recommendations of the committee be,approved, the detailed description of the area to be included, to be covered by Ordimance, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the Council (continued on page 30 )
