Dee The Clerk presented the December reports of Roy Nix, as Sewer Service Collector, Reports and V.James Ptak as Municipal Judge, an,9 alderman Stubblefield chairman of the Water Com- mittee presented the.reoprt_of the Water Department,alderman Bronson made a motion that thereports be received and filed, seconded by alderman McRoy, which was passed unanimous y by the Council. Mc oodwin Mr. L.M. McGoodwin and Px+of..W.R.Spencer, employed by the Chamber of Com, �& merce.to make a long range Master Plan of the City, appeared before the Council and pre - Spencer si nted a brief outline. of their plans. Plan Committee Alderman Gregory introduced the following RESOLUTION and moved its adoptio, seconded conded by alderman Bronson, and on roll call by the Clerk received the unanimous vote of the Council,. 't j R E S O L II T I O N. id w1HEREAS, the City'of Fayetteville has granted a certificate of Public�Convenience Necessity to University.City Lines, Inc., for the operation of scheduled passenger transportation in the City of Fayetteville; and City Bus . Lines WHEREAS, said bus. line fills a definite need* for this type of transportation which.is now unavailable and no adequate subsitute is now or can be provided; and WHEREAS, such scheduled operations will, in the opinion of the Council,conserve gasoline and rubber,.which.is now being used by private passenger cars and taxicabs in that more passengers will be transported for a limited supply of gasoline and rubber than is currenty being accomplished. T10W, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, kansas, that all agencies, both State and Federal; be and they are hereby urged to do erything in their power to facilitate immediate�operatiops of University pity dines, C. within the City of Fayetteville, to the end that more economical public transportati y be made available and that gasoline and,rubber, now being used in and on private pas- nger cars and taxicabs, may be conserved. Adopted this 22nd day of January, 1945; 4&4 - Attest Alayor Frohmtem CqtyC er • Alderman Stubblefield introduced the follwing RESOLUTION and moved its adop- sking tion, seconded by aldermn drdgory, and on roll call by the Clerk received the unanimous that vote of the Council. irport e put R E S 0 L U T I 0 N. m Air Route WHEREAS, the City of Fa ettevdlle, Arkansas owns an airport equipped vaith lslhops, hangars and other facilities necessary and convenient for the operation thereof; said airport having runways greater than 5,000 feet in length; and WHEREAS the City ,of Fayetteville is within five miles of the intersection of ines drawn from Kansas City to Shreveport; Tulsa to Memphis; Wichita to Little nock; nd Dallas -Fort Worth to St. Louis; and WHEREAS the City of Fayetteville is the home of the, University of Arkansas a United States Veterans Facility, both of which have maby non-residents therein;and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville is the home of the Western Methodist Assem- y, which accomodates hundreds of non-residents annually; and is also in the heart of th ark Mountains, a famous resort and recreation area for the great Southwest; and I I 111hereas, additional rapid transportation is urgently needed; NOW,THEHEF ORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City `'ouncil of the City of Fayetteville, rkansas, that the Civil Aeronautics Board be and it is hereby memorialized to grant cer-I ificates of Public Convenience and Necessity to such applicants for aerial transportation f passengers, freight, mail and express, as in the ,judgment of said Board will provide he best service for the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Attest City Clerk Approved a r Pro -tem 14 >,c00 �4lderman McRoy made a motion that the sum of $3,000. be transferred from the Fire Fund to )aid to he Street Fund, being a part of the amount that the Fire Fund has been owing to the Str'et it.Fund and for several years, and leaving a balance stiil due from the Fire Fund to the Street Fund of $1,400; this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously 1y the Council's- Alderman ouncil`,Alderman McRoy made a motion that a warrant be drawn on the Street Fynd for 50000 $3,000, payable to the Sanitary Fund to help pay the expense of the Sanitary Department paid to ''or the year 1945,this motion was seconded by alderman, robson, and was passed unanimously initary by the Council ?und There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by lderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the.C.ouncil, and the Mayor declared the Coun- cil adjourned. Imp. Alderman Stubblefield made a motion that the City Clerk be authorized to pay striets for paving the intersectionsX in the following Districts: the 1944 Assessment for $140.00 -47 & in Paving District No.54, the 1945 Assesment in District PIo 470 for $60.51 and the 1945 46 assessment in District 110.462 amounting to $93.56, this motion was seconded by alderman be paid McRoy, and was passed unanimously by the Council. adies The Mayor appointed the following Corrimitte6,to work with a committee f om the est Roomihamber of Commerce in working out details in regard to a building for LADIES REST ROOM, and Committ-opertion of the same: Stubblefield, Bronson and adkisson,. Port Alderman Bronson made a motion that the proposed sale of one or more of the m. to Tractors belonging to the Airport Improvement Fund, be referred to the AIRPORT COMMITTEE; 11 with power to act, this motion was seconded by alderman Adkisson, and was passed unanimously ractor py the Council. I Alderman Stubblefield made a motion that the Marking of cars be resumed r -Marker arch 1st, on the same schedule that -was in effect when the marking was discontinued January arch lstlst, 1944, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by thel Council. The Mayor stated that the PLAYNING BOARD would have some little expense pense offor material in getting out copies of plans,etc. alderman Banks made a motion that the City 'lanning take care of this expense up to the amount of $25.00, this motion was seconded by alderman Bd Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council.
