AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR ABANDONING AND VACATING THE ALLEYBETNEEN BLOCKS NO* 16 AND NO* 17, THE ALLEY BETWEEN BLOCKS N0, 19 AND N0s20, THE ALLEY BETWEEN BLOCKS NO* 23 AND NO 24,'AND THE ALLEY RUNNING NORTH AND SOUTH, BOUNDED ON THE EAST BY BLOCKS N0.16 AND N0. 17, AND ON THE WEST BY BLOCK N0. 15 ALL IN GUNTER ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAYETE- VILLE, ARKANAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS: That Whereas all of the persons o�v inng property abutting the alley between Blocks ons No. 16 and No.17, and all of the persow property abutting the alley between Blocis No. 19 and No. 20, and all of the persons ow ng property abutting the alley between Bloq'ks No.23 and No. 24 and all of the persons ow7ning property abutting the alley running north and south, bounded on the east by Blocks No.16 and No. 17, and on the west by Block No. 15p all in Gunter Addition to the City of Fayetteville,Arka'nsas;•presented to the City Couniil petitions praying.that said alleys be abandoned and vacated. That Whereas the City Council by Resolution directed the City Clerk to give notice as provided by Act No. 311 of the Acts of The Genefal Assembly of 1941 of the hearing of said petitions and the said Clerk gave the notice as provided by said Act. That Whereas hearing has been duly had upon said petitions befmre the City Coun- cil as provided in said Act,.and it has been determined by the City Council that all abutting property owners and other persons directly interested have consehted to the abandonment) of said alleys and no one has appgared to oppose the granting of prayers of said petitions, and the Council has found that said alleys should be abandoned and vacated. Therefore it is orddred and determined by the City Council that the property included within the alley between Blocks No,.16 and,No.17, and the property included wi.t.a.r. the alley between Blocks No. 19 and No. 20, and the property included w thin::tlieoalleyol,2� betweenr Blockd Nb;237andrNp.4.24;-1and the:rpr.operty included in the alley running north and south, bounded on the,east by Blocks No. 16 and No.l7, and on the West By Block No. 15,Iall in Gunter Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be abandoned as alleys and that said property shall vest in the owners of the real.estate adjacent theretd as provided in said Act of the General Assembly., Passed and approved this 10th day of July, 1944. t Approved_ Attest Mayor Fro -tem (�%'�_ L Clerk Patrolmen The Mayor presented the matter of ,vacations for the Police Department, o be paid) and said that on account of the shortage of ,help, he didn't think it would be possible vacation to give them the time off, but thought they would ,be willing to work on straight through; 2.Weeks provided they were paid for the 2 weeks vacation period, and in the discussion, it was brought out that there were only, 2 of the Patrolmen that would be entdtled to a vacation since the others had ,been on the force less than 12 months, alderman Banks .made a motion that the 2 Patrolmen,entitled to a vacation, be paid for 2 weeks extra: time, this motion was seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and was passed unanimously by the Council. . =1 There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by, aldePman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Insurance Alderman Banks, chairman of the Insurance committee reported that the committee to be on were working on a plan to have the insurance on all buildings with contents set up 5 yr basis on a 5 year schedule, all to mature on the same date, alderman Bronson made IL motion that the Council approve the 5 year plan and balance of the details with reference to'the h)surance be referred to the Committee, with power to act, this motion was secon4- ed by alderman Stubblefield, and was passed unanimously by the Council. There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned; A To hire n extra atrolman Approved Fayetteville City Council met in a CALLED SESSION, Monday July 31st, 1944. Present : Mayor Pro -tem G.T.Sanders, Cigy Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson aldermen, Bronson, Gregory, Banks, Stibblefield, Williams, McRoy and Adkisson. The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of considerin7 some vacancies in the Police Department. Alderman Gregory made a motionthat the Council go into executive dession, sec- onded by alderman Banks, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor de- clared the Council in executive session, after.discussmon of various administrative mat- ters, alderman Gregory moved to go out of executive session, seconded by alderman Bronso which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in regu- lar session`; Alderman McRoy, chairman of the Police Committee, made a motion that the Acting Chief of the Police Department be given authority to hire an extra Patrolman, thi motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council.
