Present: Mayor Pro -tem G.T.Sanders, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Brown, Acting Fire Chief Henry George, aldermen; Bronson, Gregory,Banks, Stubblefield, McRoy and Adkisson. Absent: Alderman Williams. �3enry Geor Alderman Banks , chairman of the Fire Committee made a motion that Acting Chief fignry George be allowed the sum of $10.00 per month for UNIFORM MAINTENANCE, ef6ective allowed$10, May lst, 1944, this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory and was passed unanimously b the Council* per mo. Alderman McRoy made a motion that a warrant for $1700.00 be drawn oil the Stree Uniform AllowFund in favor of the Sanitation Fund, for balance set up in the budget to be paid by the ante Street Department to help defray the operating expenses of the Sanitary Department for ,$1700.00 the year 1944, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by paid San Deptthe Council• Alderman Stubblefield introduced the following RESOLUTION, and alderman Bronson moved its adoption, seconded by alderman Stubblefield, which was passed unani- mously by the Council IIV ��I yor And Whereas, A.M.Behl and Fern Behl, husband and wife, have offered to the City of City Clerk Fayetteville the sum of Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($8,500.00) for its property authorized known as the Old Airport; and to sign Deed Whereas, the Cit of Fayetteville has to property to Old Airpo3st+ Y Y ng since abandoned saidas an airport site and has acquired other more suitable property for use as an airport and sail Old Airport property has been rented as pasture for,a nominal sum.for a nAmber of years; and Whereas, the City Council is of the opinion that it is to the best interest of the City of Fayetteville•that said Old Airport property be sold for the above mentioned sum of money. NOW, THERE CRE; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,that the Old Airport property be sold to A.M.Behl and Fern Behl, husband and wi8 at and for the sum of Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($8,500.00) and thatttheKMayor and City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, aforesaid, be and they are hereby authorized) and directed to execute a.deed to said property to said A.M.Behl and Fern Behl, husband and wife uppon payment of the purchase price, for and in the name &fd behalf of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, X1500.00 to Gen Fund . .00 to ial DOPTED: This 29th day of. Attest "YPA&` • Approved Mayor ro- em Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Clerk be authorized to draw a warrant n the General F*nd for the sum of $9.35 for REVENUE STAMPS to be placed on the Old Air - ort Deed, this motion was secondecj by alderman McRoy, and was passed unanimously by the ouncile The question of what disposition to make of the money received from the sale f the Old Airport came up for discussion, and it was brought,out that when the purchase as made in 1929 that Dr.N.F.Drake donated the sum of $3500.00, and that.$ 1500.00 was pal Lit of the General fund, and alderman Gregory made a motion that $1560.00 be returned to is General Fund, and that the balance, or $7000.00 be placed in a SPECIAL Fund, and held ill such time that some special improvement can be made at the New Airport, in which thl �ney may be used to MEMORIALIZE Dr.N.F.Drake this motion was seconded by alderman D+:a* anks, and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded, Ayes: Gregory, anks,,Stubblefield and Adkisson.Nays; Bronson and McRoy. Absent and not voting:alderman illiams. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 4 Ayes, and 2vNays. There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by lderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Coun- it adjourned.
