Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, May'lst,1944.
Present : Mayor pro -tem Geo Sanders, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson
City Engineer E.T.Brown,Retiring chief of Police Dan Allen, acting Chief of Polce Bob
Day.Acting Fire Chief Henry George, aldermen Bronson, Gregory, StubblefieldsWilliams,
McRoy and Adkisson. Absent: Alderman Banks.
Minutes of the regular meeting of April 17th, mere read and approved.
The follwing bills were.presented, after their approval by alderman McRoy, chairman of

Alderman Gregory made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved,secon-ed by alder-
man McRoy, which ws•regularly passed by the Council. )
Monthly Dan Allen prosented.the April report pf the Police Lepartmeat,the Clerk prosented t. c
oports N.arch report of Roy. Nix as Sewer Service Collector,the'April reports of J.W.McGerheo,
as City Clerk and as City Collectpr,alderman Bronson made a motion that the reporgs be
.received and filed, seconded by aldefhvan Stubblefiel, which was passed unanimously by
Petition the Council.

that the matter be referred to the City Engineer and the street Committee, to confer
with Mr Bates before taking any further action. this motion was seconded by alderman
Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council'*
T purchasb The Mayor reported that the Street Co:iJnittee -,.vias considering the purchase
Asphalt of an ASPHALT DISTP.IBUTOR, and alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter be referrd
diitributorl to the City Engineer and Street Committee, with power to act , this motion was seconded
by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council*
Bd of Hea thThe Mayor announce0the appointment of a BOARD OF HEALTH, consisting of
appointed Heist Lewis, Fred Raodels
the following members: Dr.A.A.C,ilbert, Dr.P.L.Hathcock, Sr.
and Steve Ratliffe,, and alderman- Adkisson made a motion that these appointments be ap-
proved by the Coungil, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously by
the Council.
D�n Allen At this time Dan Allen stated that since he was a candidate for sheriff
rgsigns as in the coming Primgry, he had tendered liis resignation As CH3EF OF POLICE to the CIVIL
C�ief of SERVICE COMMISSION, Friday April42Bth, effective immediately, and that the Commission
P lice had accepted his resignation, and had appointmd *3ob Dajd as Acting Chief of Police,tern-
porarily, Mr Allen took occasion also, to express his appreciation .to the Council and
all City Officials for the cooperation they had given him during the time he had been
connected with the City as Chief of Police*
Ixecutive Alderman McRoy made a motion that the Council go into executive session, secondec
ession by alderman Gregory, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declare
the Council in executive session, after discussion of various administrative matters,
alderman Bronson moved to go out of exeutive session, seconded by alderman McRoy, whict
was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in regular
session.

dget ado ted Alderman Gregory, chairman of the Finance committee presented the BUDGET
for the Year 1944, after discussion, alderman Gregory made a motion that, the BUDGET be
adopted, as recommended, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously
by the Council.
