Present : Mayor Geo.Vaughan, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Abtorney Price Dickson, City �rgineer E.T.Brown, Building Inspector Henry Georges Police Chief Dan Allen, Aldermen; onson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, Shook and Stubblefield. At this time alderman Sanders tendered his resignation as a member of the viation Committee and as a member of the JOINT AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE, which was ccepted by Mayor Vaughanp , Alderman Stubblefield introduced an Ordinance, entitled, " AN,ORDINANCE NCREASING THE SALARIES CF ALL POLICE OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, ND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. The ordinance was read in ite entirety.by the Clerk, alderman Bronson made motion that the rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading, thil otion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Clerk then read the ordinance the second time, and after discussion, lderman Shook made a motion that the rulesbe further suspended and the ordinance placed n its thi8d and final reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was pass nanimously by the Council. The Clerk then read the ordinance the third and final time. he Mayor then put the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass"?, and on roll call by the Cl he follwing vote was recorded,:Ayes: Bronson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, hook and Stubblefield. Nays : None. And the Mayor declared passed, as there weree8 Ayes nd no, Nays. Alderman Bronson moved the adoption of the Emergency clause, seconded by lderman McRoy, and on Poll call by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded, Ayes: robson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, Shook and Stubblefield. and the Mayor eclared adopted, as there were 8 Ayes, and no Nayso ORD INA NC E. NO* 8-7-2. AIi ORDINANCE INCREASING THE SALARIES OF ALL POLICE OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF FAY= ILLE, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER BURPOSES. WHEREAS, increases in costs of necessities have made it necessary to ;provide ses in rates of pay to the various police officers of the City of Fayetteville. FONs THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Cduncil of the City of Fayetteville:, SECTION 1. The salaries of all grades and positions, certified under Civil Se in the Police Department of Fayetteville are hereby increased ten percent over the pre rates of pay. Provided, however, the rate of pay shall be that applicable to the rank which said officer shall be promoted or demoted,as the case may be. SECTION 11. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are he; repealed, and it appearing that necessary living costs have already advanced, the pay pi sided herein shall be computed as of September 1119429 and this ordinance shall be in fc 'orce and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication. City Attorney ice Dickson reported that he had received a wire from their Attorney agreeing to term9 e lease, effective' #rmediately. It was brought to the attention of the Council that there were 2 vacanci n the Board of Commissioners of Paving District No.43, and alderman Sg.nders made a mots hat Clarence Hight and A.C.Ucker be appointed as Commissmoners in District No. 43, this otion was seconded by alderman I+IcRoy, and was passed unanimously by the Council. 5eptem ber3o,i� ere being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn till We lay.at 8 O'cloc� P.M., seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously by t :ouncil. and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned td)ll Wednes y at 8 Olebock P.M.
