Present.Mayor Geo.Vaughan, City Clerk J.W.MeGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Brown, aldermen; Bronson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, Shook and Stubblefield, Absent: McRoy and Sanders. Minutes of the regular meeting of May 25th, were road and approved. Alderman Banks made a motion that the Mayor be instructed to write a letter Lease* of appreciation to the OBERMAN GARMENT FACTORY for the donation of SUMMER UNIFORMS to the FIRE DEPARTMENT, this motion was seconded by alderman Sanders, and received the Oberman uanimous vote of the Council. Garment Fac. donate Firemen Uniflorms * S ,l 550 ( Meeting of June 15th, continued) Alderman Sanders introduced an Ordinance, entitled, AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR ABANDONI AND VACATING THE ALLEY RUNNING IN AN EASTERLY WESTERLY DIRECTION .THROUGH THE CENTER OF BLOCK ONE, ENGLEWOOD ADDITION TO THE bITY OF f'AYETTEV,ILLE, ARKANSAS, AS SHOWN ON THE REM CORDED PIAT OF SAID ADD IT ION • The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Bronson made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second reading, this?motion was seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and on roll call by the. Clerk, was passed • unanimously by the Councils P I , • The Clerk then read the Ordinance the sscond time, and after discussion, alderman Hosford made a motion that the rules be further suspended, and the Ordinance placed on ita third and final reading, this motion was, seconded by alderman Stubblefield* and on roll call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor then put the question "Shall the Ordinance pass", and on roll call by the Cler the follwing vote resulted: Ayes; Branson, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, Shook and Stubblefield. Nays: None. Absent and not voting : Banks• AnA the Mayord declared the Ordinance passed, as there were 7 Ayes, and no Nays, ORDINANCE N0. 8-6-9. AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FCR ABANDONING AND VACATING THE ALLEY RUNNING IN AN \ EASTERLY"WESTERLY DIRECTION THROUGH THE CENTER OF BLOCK ONE, ENGLEWOOD ADDITION TO THE 1 CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AS SHOWN ON THE RECORDED PLAT OF SAID ADDITION• BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY CF FAYETTEVILLE, WASIIINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS: That whereas all persons owning property abutting the alley running in an easterly - westerly direction through the center of Block 1.Englewood Addition to the City of Fayette- ville, Arkansas,have presented to the City Council a petition praying that said alley be abandoned and vacated; and , Whereas, the City Council by resolution directed the City Clerk to give notice ir6vided by Act 311 Df the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the ear 1941, of the hearinglof said petition, and Whereas, said Clerk gavi the notice in the form and manner and for the time as movided by,said Act, and Whereas, said hearing has beett�duly conducted, for the purpose of consideration id petition, on the 8th day of June, 1942s as provided in said Act, and it has been e- nod by the City Councilthat all abutting propert$ owners and other persons directly �in" steel have consehted to the abandonment of said alley, and no one has appeared to opp�se ranting of the prayers of said petition, and the Council has found that said alley d be abandoned and vacated,, Therefore, it,is ordered and ordained and determined by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,,Arkansas,that the property included within the alley as now platted running in an easterly- westerly direction through the center of Block 1, Englewood Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, be abandoned qs an alley and that the. property shall vest in the owners of the.real estate adjacent thereto, each such adjacent owner taking title to the middle of said alley, and said ownership shall be free from the former ease" ment of the City of Fayetteville therin for public uqe as an alley, as provided in said ct of the General Assembly. , , Passed and,approved this 15th, day of.June, ;942.
