HomeMy WebLinkAbout1942-05-11 - Minutes547 etteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, May 4th, 1942. sent: Mayor Geo.Vaughan, City Clerk J.W.HcGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City ineer E.T.Brown, Building Inspector Henry George, Police Chief Dan Allen, and aldermen; neon, Banks, Gregory,, Hosford, McRo#, Shook and Stubblefield, *Absent :Alderman Sanders; (,Minutes of the regular meeting of April 27th, were not read, on account of having been misplaced by the Clerk, and was postponed till next regular meeting.) The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Hosford, chairman the auditing committee: The following reports for the monthof April were read by the Clerk: Henry George, April as Building Inspector, J.W.MeGehee,as City Collector and as City Clerk, and Police Chieful ieports presented the report of the Police Department, alderman McRoy made a motion that the 'Pl reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Banks,which was passed unanimously by the CouncILW r. buy Alderman Gregory made a motion that the Building Inspector be author= nater ized to purchase an ammeter and a voltmeter,this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford and was passed unanimously by the Council; Ltmeteg Z,T.Boykin, County Sanitarian was present and made a report of the progress he was making in cleaning alleys near the business section, and in a private premises inspection* Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Council go into executive session, seconded by alderman Banks, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in executive session, after discussion of various administrative matters, alderman 'regory moved to go out of executive session,seconded by alderman Hosford, which was passed unanimously, and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session* There being no further business, alderman McRoy,moved to adjourn, seconded by alderman Hosford, which was duly passed by the Council, and tge Mayor declared the Coun- cil adjourned* n Fire report for A iril To widen &,pave Mission St. I` To (buy` controlled receiving Attest U�. The report of Chas Sanders, as Acting Chief of the Fire Department was read by Clerk, and by order of the Mayor was received and filed* The c$ stion of Widening Mission Street from Lafayette to Maple Street came up for discussion, and alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter of securing RIGHT. Of Way and arranging for PAVING and the CURB & Gutter on Mission Street from IAfayette to Maple Street be referred to the Street Committee and City Engineer, with poo! to acto hie motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and was passed unanimously by the,Council Police Chief, Dan Allen presented the needof a Crystal controlled RADIO RECEIVING SET, and after discflssion,alderman Sanders made a motion thati the matter be referred to the Police Committee and Police Chief, with power to act, this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, which was passed unanimously by The Council; The Mayor stated that Mr.Boykin, the County Sanitarian had submitted a To clean up plan to get the tin cans and other rubbish cleaned up in the Rose Hill section, if there Rose Hill *as no objection from the Council, after discussion, it was decided to leave the matter to the disceetion of Mr.Boykin to work out.
