HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-08-18 Minutesto 518 Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, August, 18, 1941. The absence of Mayor Vaughan was noted, on account of the serious illness of his his Father-in-law, tar.D.S.Clark, and alderman Bronson made a motion that alderman Sa be elected Mayor -Pro -tem, this motion was seconded by alderman Shook , and on roll c by the Clerk, was passed unanimously. The Clerk then called the roll., and noted the folbowing members present: City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Ddckson;-aldermen; Bronson, Banks, Gregory, McRoy, Sanders and Shook. Absent: aldermen; Hosford and Stubblefield. Minutes of the -regular meeting of August 11th, were read and approved. Fayetteville City Council met in regqlar session, Monday, August 25th, 1941. Present: Mayor Geo:Vaughan, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City gineer-E.T.Brown, Aldermen; Bronson, Banks,. Gregory, McRoy, Sanders and Stubblefield. Absent: Aldermen Hosford and ghook. Minutes of the regular meeting of August 18th, were read and approved. There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconde by alderman Gregory, which was duly passed by the Coumcil, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Alderman Sanders made a motion that the lst installment (Annual) for the year 1941 in the Paving Improvement District Ro 46 for the cost of paving the intersections, amounting to ?99.56, be allowed, this motion was seconded by alderman Bronson, and retef . the unanimous vote of the Council': " Alderman Sanders made a mot$on that A.F.Shumate.. Forerpan of the Street Clea. Department, be given a week's vacation, with pay, this motion was seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF INSPECTOR OF LIQUIFIED GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, INSTALLATIONS AND APPLIATCES WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILEE, ARKANSAS, PROVIDING CERTAIN REG- ULATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE INSTALLATION AND SERVICING OF SUCH SYSTEMS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES* WI The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Sanders mde a motion that the rules be suspended, and the ordinance placed on its second reading, sc- onded by alderman Banks, and on roll call by the Clerk, was passed unanimously. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion, alder- man Bronson made a motion that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance placed on its third and final reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and received the unanimous vote of the Council. I The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor then put the question "Shall the Ordinance pass", and on roll call by the Cle the follwing vote was recorded: Ayes; Bronson, Banks, MdRoy,Sanders and Stubblefield. Nayo: Gregory. Absent and not voting: Hosford and Shook. And the Mayor declared Passed, as there were 5 Ayes and 1 Nay g4.•wm Alderman,�moved the adoption of the emergency clause, seconded by alderma McRoy, and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Bronson,Banks, Gregory, McRoy, Sanders and Stubblefield. Nays:.None. Absent and not voting: Hosford an Shook. And the Mayor declared adopted, as there were 6 Ayes, and no Nays; (Copy of Ordinance on next page)
