Fayetteville City Cou4cil met in regular session, monday, July 7th, 1941.
esent: Mayor Geo.Vaughan, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, 8ity Attorney Price Dickson,
ity Engineer E.T.Brown, and aldermen; Bronson, Banks,dregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders,
hook and Stubblefield.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Hosford,

man Shook, which was regularly passed by the Council.

grocery stores and meat markets on the Sabbath day is hereby repeals

Referend The report of the City Clerk, certifying the Sufficiency of the Referendum Petition
Petition on Ordinance No.859, filed on June 30th3o was read by the Clerk; the report showing there
�ertifi-• were 40 valid signatures on the Petition, and only 37 required. Alderman Gregory made
qd a motion that the report be received and filed, seconded by alderman Shook, which was
I passed unanimously by the Council.
There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded
y alderman Hosford, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
ouncil adjourned:,

The question of raising the rent at the Airport, since the erection of the

new buildings, was presented, and alderman Gregory made a motion that the rpatter be re-

ferred to the Aviation Committee,with power to act, this motion was seconded by alder-

man Hosford, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.

The question of placing some insurance on the buildings at the Airport
Insurance
was presented by alderman Banks, chairman of the Insurance committee, and alderman
Hosford made a motion that the matter be referred to the Insurance Committee, seconded
by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the Council':
Alderman Banks introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDIKANCE REPEALING
ORDINANCE N0. 857 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES!

The ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk,and alderman Sanders
made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the ordinance placed on its second read-
ing, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the
Council.
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, end after discussion,
alderman Gregory made a moyioh that the rules be further suspended, and the Ordinance
placed on its third and final reading; this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and
was passed unanimously by the Council.
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the thdrd and final time.
The Mayor then put the question " Shall the Ordinance pass", and on roll call by the
Clerk, the following vote was recorded: Ayes; Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders,
and Shook; Nays; Bronson and Stubblefield. and the Mayor declared passed, as there were
6 Ayes, and 2 Nays,
Alderman Sanders moved the adoption of the emergency clause, seconded by

alderman Gregory, and on roll call by the Clerk, the follwing vote was recorded:Ayes;

And the Mayor declared lost, as there were 5 Ayes, and 3 Nays.
