Absenpalderman Sanders., Minutes: of the regular meeting of June 16th, were read and approved. Civil Servace The report of the Civil Service Commission was read by the Clerk, certi- Cpm. fying an eligible list,for Chief of Police, which consisted of one name.. Viz: report Herbert Carroll Durham, 1326 Haynecker Street, Dequeen, Ark. Alderman Gregory made a certify- motion that Harbert Carol Durham be selected as Chief of Police, and that he be notifie ing a of his selection, subject to the rules of the Civil Service Commiesion, this motion was Chief of seconded by alderman Banks and received the unanimos vote of the ouncil; Police. AN ORDINANCE, Entitked, " AN ORDINANCE DISSOLVING STREET IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 53 OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, which was left on its second reading at the iZegular meeting of June 16th, was presented, and alderman Gregory made a motion that it be placed on its tY} d and final reading, seco*ded by alderman Banks, which was passed unanimously by the Council. The.Clerk then read the ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor then put the question " Shall the Ordinance pass", and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded: Ayes; Bronson,'Banks, Gregory, Hosford,McRoy, Shook and Stubblefield, Absent and not voting: Sanders. And the Mayor declared Passed, as there were 7 Ayes, and no Nays. ORDINANCE NO .8-5-8 AN ORDINANCE DISSOLVING STREET IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT N0.53 OF ,THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, Ordinance No 814,.passed''by;the City: -Council and approved by the Mayor on September 29, 1938, established Street Improvement District No.53 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and WHEREAS, The improvements contemplated by said Improvement District have been obtained by the owners of property embraced in the bounds of said Improvement District without the necessity of the levying of Assessments or the issuance of bonds for the payment of same, and the preliminary expenses incurred in the formation of said Improvement District have been paid in full, and WHEREAS, All the owners of property in said district are desirous bhat said Improvement District be abandoned and dissolved, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS: SECTION I.That Ordinance No, 8140 passed by the City Council and approved by the Mayor on September 29, 19389 be and hereby is repeled and Eescinded;that Improve ment District No.53 of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansassestablished by said ordinance be and hereby is dissolved, and that D.Y.Thomas,Jack Hight, and Sam B.Wheeler, heretofo named as members of the Board of Improvement of said dis.tr_ict;:be and hereby are releas and discharged from any and all further duties or liabilities in connection with the said Improvement District. SECTION 2, This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and afte its passage. r Passed and approved this 23 day of June 1941. The Statement of Improvempnt District No.46o came up for discussion again, and alderman Sanders, chairman of the Street committee, said there were some charges fo paving 9 Alley turn -outs and a concrete culvert on this statement, and that it had not the custom of the City to pay for this kind of work in Improvement Districts, and it via decided to ask the Commissioners to submit a revised statement. A Referendum Petition, asking that Ordinance No.859, be referred to a vote of people at the next general elction, to be held the•lst Tu sday in April 1942s was pre and read by the Clerk, containing 67 individual signature 3 Firm names, after discus alderman Sanders made a motionthat Ordinance N0:859 be held in abeyance till the mext general election, provided that the certificate of the City Clerk shows that there are suffivient signatures on the petition, this motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and passed unanimously by the Council: Alderman Sanders made a motion that the Mayor and City Attorney meet with Me.. H.G.Ward and work out some system of collection under the old Garbage Ordinance, N0.82 this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Mayor presented the request of Chas McClelland for a 2 weeks Vacation, wi pay, but after discussioh, no action was taken. g The Mayor presented the matter of enforcing the Double Parking, and said the Truck Yrivers had made a request for an Unloading Zone in each Block, but after discus it was decided this would not be practical, but that there was nothing to prevent them from using parking space when available, the same as any other car. Alderman Bronson moved to go into executive session, seconded by alderman McR which was passed unanimous4 and the Mayor declared the Council in executive session, after discussion of various administrative matters,alderman Sanders made a motion to out of executive session,seconded by alderman McRoy, which was passed unanimously, an the Mayor declared the Council in regular sessiono There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by alderman Shook, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Counc adjourned; S Approved 0 s U i 14
