A letter was read by the Clerk from Oberman & Co. of Jefferson City, Mo., wanting to,
locate a Factory in Fayetteville, provided the City of Fayetteville meet a certain
Water number of requirements, some of which were to furnish a Building, rent free for a certa
De}partment no.of years, put the Plumbing in good condition, paint and re -decorate the Building -
to and install a 2A horse power Boiler, after discussion, alderman Hosford made a motion
furnish that the Water Department furnish the OLD GARMENT FACTORY BUILDING, rent free, for a
Building period of Three -Years, also to put the present Plumbing in good condition, provided the
3 lyears. Chamber of Commerce would assume the cost of painting the Building and installing the
Boiler, this motion was seconded by alderman Shook, and on roll call by the Clerk,
received the unanimous vote of the Council.
There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

Alderman Bronson made;:a motion that the bills be allowed; as appro%ed, seconded by
alderman Banks, which was regularly passed by the Council;
Ap'il The following reports for the month of April were read by the Cler2
Reports Roy Nix as Sewer Service Collector, Henry George as Building Inspector, Geol.Vaughan, Jr.
Rec1d as Ex-offocio Chief of Police, V.James Ptak as Municipal Judge for the City,
& filed J.W.McGehee as City Collector and as City C1 erk, alderman Shook made a motion that the
reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimous-
ly by the Council,
Several members of the of the Grocery & Meat Market Firms of the City
rocers were present and presented a Petition signed by 15 0£ the Leading Grocery and Market
request F �sywhioh petiti6n3wasil R@@d by the Clerk, requesting iher.06tLncil to pass an Ordinance
Sunday prohibiting the sale of GROCERIES AND MEATS on Sunday, after discussion,alderman
closing Stubblefield made a moj,ion that the City attorney be instructed to draw up an Ordinance
prohibiting the sale of GROCERIES AND MEATS on Sunday, this motion was seconded by
alderman Bronson, and on roll Ball by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded:
Ayes; Bronson, Hosford,McRoy,Shook and Stubblefield,Nays: anders. Alderman Banks asked
to be excused from voting, which request was granted.. Absent and not voting: alderman
Uregory. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 5 Ayes, and 1 Nay.
Alderman Banks introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO PURCHASE FIRE HOSE FOR THE FIRE DEPAETMENT
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Bronson
made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the ordinance placed on its second read-
ing, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the
Council.
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion,
alderman Sanders made a motion that the rules•�bee•further suspended, and the ordinance
placed on its third and final reading; this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford, and
was passed unanimously by the Council.
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time.
The Mayor then put the question " Shall the Ordinance pass",'and on roll call by the
Clerk, a unanimous vote was recorded, and the Mayor declared, passed, as there were
7 ayes, and no Nays.
Alderman Shook moved the Emergency clause be adopted, seconded by alder-
man Bronson, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council,
and the Mayor declared, adopted.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO PURCHASE FIRE HOSE FOR
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, The Board of Public Affairs of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has
recommended the purchase of 650 feet of 22 inch hose and 300 feet of 12 inch hose to com-
ply with minimum requirements, and
WHEREAS, The Board of Public Affairs has estimated that the cost of such hose
will be approximately $1,000.00;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS;
SECTION 1. The Board of Public Affairs is hereby authorized and instructed t
advertise for bids on the purchase of 650 feet of 22 inch hose and 300 feet of 12 inch
and to award the purchase contract to the lowest responsible bidder offering standard a
acceptable hose.

SECTION 2. This ordinance.being necessary for the preservation of the public health,
peace and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after Its passage, approval and publication.
Passed and approved this 19th, day of May, 1941.

Two bids on painting the Staway of the Administration Building, were
To submitted, Viz: Kelley Johnson $20.85, i and ilson Painjr Co. $20.00, after discussion, it
paint was decided to let Wilson Paint Co. do the work, and it was i}nderstood that these bids
stairway were for the whole stairway, and that the Masonic Lodge would pay for their part of the work
