The Mayor stated that the Masonic L®dge were planning to paint the top of
the Stairway, and wanted this brought to the attention of the Building Committee,:to see
if they would plan to have the lower part of the Stairway paintedeeat the same time.
There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman Shookr, whmch was duly,passed by the Council, and the Mayor clared the
Council adjourned.

Minutes -of the regular meeting of May 5th, were read and approved.

It was noted that the bill of Jacor $300.00 was for an Internatiomal 1936`ruck
and the bill had been approved by the Public Affairs Committee, alderman Sander made
a motion that the bills be allowed, as,apprbved, seconded by alderman Banks, which was
regularly passed by the Council.
Rev Sam Yancey, Roy Williams, W.B.Wall and H ugh Rogers were.present,in
the interest of the Ri8iiKof way to Mt Sgquoyah , and alderman Sanders, chairman of the
Street Committee, reported that he had contacted the parties owning the property, which
it would be necessary to acquire-tto meet the requirements of the Highway Department for

Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Mayor be instructed MLto attend
this meeting, as requested by the Governor, with expenses paid, this motion was secondee
by alderman Shook, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Alderman Stubblefield introduced an Ordinance, entitled "YiAN ORDINANCE
PROHIBITING THE ERECTION, BUILDING, OR CONSTRUCTION OF BULK STORAGE TANKS, VATS OR OTHEF
CONTAINERS FOR INFLAMABLE LIQUIDS OR GASES WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
The Clerk read the Ordinance in its entirety, and alderman Sanders ma
a motion that the rules be suspended, and the, Ordinance placed on its second reading,'
motion was seconded by alderman Shook, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.

alderman Bronson made a motion that the rules be further suspended, and the Ordinance
placed on its third and final reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was
Passed unanimously by the Council.
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time.
The Mayor then put the question "Shall the Ordinance pass", and on roll call by the
Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council, amd the Mayor declared passed, as there
were 7 Ayes, and no Nays.
Alderman Shook moved the emergency clause be adopted, seconded by alde
Banks, and on roll call by the Clerkreceived the. unanimous vote of the Council, and the
Mayor declared adopted, as there were 7 Ayes, and no Nays.

AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE ERF.CTION,BUILDING,OR CONSTRUCTION OF BULK
STORAGE TANKS, VATS OR OTHER CONTAINERS FOR INFTAMABLE LIQUIDS OR GASES WITHIN THE CORP
RATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, AND FOR. OTHER PURPOSES,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SEDTION I. It shall be unlawful for any, person, firm or corporation to bu
construct, erector locate any tanks,vats or any other typeLof container designed for o
actually used to store inflamable liquids or gases within the corporate limits of the C
of Fayetteville, Arkansas; provided that this ordinance shall not apply to the maintena
and necessary repair of 'tanks already located within 'the corporate limits of the City o
Fayetteville.. Arkansas, and provided further 'that this ordinance shall not apply to con
tainers having a capacity of 1,000 gallons or less, below the ground,�orn300��tallons or
less above the dround.
SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation violating the terms of this
ordinance shall be deemed guilty'of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $500.002 and in addition thereto all tanks, vats or
other containers constructed in violation of the terms of this ordinance shall be remov
by the person, firm or corporation so violating the terms of this ordinance, and the
failure of such person, firm or corporation to remove such containers after having been
ordered to do so by the Municipal Court of the City of Fayetteville shall be punishable
as in other contempt proceedings, and the City may at its election remove sudh containe,
and the cost or shall be adjudged against the person, firm or corporation violatin
the terms of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith a
hereby repealed, and it appearing that the presence of large quantities of inflamable
liquids and gases within the corporate limits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
constitutes a menace to the public health, peace and saf6ty, an emergency is hereby dec
to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passa
approval and publication.

A letter was read by the Clerk from Oberman & Co. of Jefferson City, Mo., wanting to
locate a Factory in Fayetteville, provided the City of Fayetteville meet a certain
Water number of requirements, some of which were to furnish a Building, rent free for a certa
Department no.of years, put the Plumbing in good condition, paint and re -decorate the Building
to and install a 2 horse power Boiler, after discussion, alderman Hosford made a motion
furnish that the Water department furnish the OLD GARMENT FACTORY BUILDING, rent free, for a
Building period of Three -Years, also to put the present Plumbing in good condition, provided the
31years. Chamber of Commerce would assume the cost of painting the Building and installing the
Boiler, this motion was seconded by alderman Shook, and on roll call by the Clerk,
received the unanimous vote of the Council.
There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimous-
ly by the Council.

Grocers were present and presented a Petition signed by 15 of the Leading Grocery and Market

Sunday prohibiting the sale of GROCERIES AND MEATS on Sunday, after discussion,alderman
closing Stubblefield made a motion that the City attorney be instructed to draw up an Ordinance
prohibiting the sale of GROCERIES AND MEATS on Sunday, this motion was seconded by
alderman Bronson, and on roll call by the Clerk, the follow ng vote was recorded:
Ayes; Bronson, Hosford,McRoy,Shook and Stubblefield,'Nayse anders. Alderman Banks asked
too be excused from voting, which request was granted, Absent and not voting: alderman
Uregory. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 5 Ayes, and 1 Nay.
Alderman Banks introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO PURCHASE FIRE HOSE FOR THE FIRE DEPATTMENT
OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Bronson
made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the ordinance placed on its second read-
ing, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the
Council.
