Present Mayor Geo.Vaughan, Jr., City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson" City Engineer, and aldermen; Bronson, Banks, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders,Shook and Stubble- field. Absent alderman Gregory. Minutes of the regu$ar meeting of April 14th, were read and approved. Mr.W.F.Duskin appeared before the Council, and requested the Council to establish W,. .Duskin the Street Line on Caraway Street, as it apeeared that the Rlalton file,at the Courthouse asks shows the Street to be 50 ft wide, and the ity Plat shows 40 ft, and that the survey Council shows that it is only 32 ft wide at the East end, but after disci3ssion,'Mr.Duskin was to establish informed that the Council had no authority to chAngetthe,S'tr6ot- ine:-.%, line on ; .•r y Rev.Sam Yancey and Hugh Rogers presented a petition signed by 165 persons , request - Caraway St• ing the Council to secure Right-of-way at the end of East Maple Street for the purpose of widening the Road leading up to Mt Sequoyah, which road,y,�� made a part of the State Petition to Highway System by an Act of the 1941 Legislature, Alderman4x8e a motion that the matter secure R -W be referred to the Street Committee for investigation and 'report back to the Council for aproach in the near future.This motion was seconded by alderman Shook and received the unanimous to I vote of the Council Mt.Sequoyah 'J _The Bill of the County Election Board for holding the City General Elcbion on County Aprililst, again came up for discussion, and alderman Sanders made a motion that the Election bill be allowed, as submitted, for $122.50, this motion was seconded by alderman Bill Bronson, and was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Stubblefield, chairman of the Committee, appointed April 14th, to Building Permit investigatethe petition that -had been .presented at that time requesting the Council to 190% to I refuse a Building, Permit To THE A°SEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH, to be erected at College and Assembly of God Second Streets, reported the the 6ommittetrecommended that the Permit be refused, K7L3Q�iM KKK, alderman Sanders made a motion that the recommendation of the comrmittee be approved church refused and the Building Permit refused, this motion was sec6mded by alderman McRoy; and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote was redordede Ayes; Banks, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, Shook and Stubblefield. Alderman Bronson was excused from voting, on account of being a property owner in the vicinity to be affected, Absent and not voting :alderman Gregor And the Mayor declared motion carried as there were 6 Ayes and no Nays. The committee from the Veterans of Foreign Wars again appeared before the lwith Carnival their request for the Council to suspend the license for a carniva o be held in �"tthe License fee near future, after discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion that iCENSE FEF for the suspended Carnival be collected by the City Clerk, and that a warrant for this amount be given V.F.W. to the Veterans of Foreign Wars to be placed in the Post's MILK FUND, this motion was for seconded by alderman Stubblefield, and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote Mil 'Fund was recorded..: Ayes; Bronson, Banks, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders, and Stubblefield. Nays: Shook. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 6 ayes and 1 Nay. Mayor Vaughan recommmendeothat some plan be worked out to secure another Mayor Desk Sargeant for the Police Depattment, after discussion, alderman Sanders made a t recommends motion that the matter be referred to the Finance Committees this motion was seconded Desk by alderman Hosford and was passed unanimously by the Council. Sargeant VA4J9 RA%N Mayoricalled the attention of Light committe to a request for a light at Lindle and York Streets, also one on East Rock Street, near the Confederate Cemetery, Mayor Vaughan also called the attention of the Streit Commitee tQQ a request for SLOW SIGNS on West Lafayette and'-Ida!Streets'dt1the approaches -to 9egg Street. Aldrman Hosford made a motion that the Mayor be instructed to request the Request South Western Ks & Electric Go* to move their High Line at the Airport, this motion move was seconded by alderman Shook, and was passed unanimously by thB Council. There being -no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded Airpo t by alderman Beonson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor de Tared the Council adjourned.
