Absent alderman Gregory. Minutes of the regular meeting of March 24th, were read and approved. A letter from Walter, Woody & Heimerdinger was read by the Clerk, calling attentic of the Council to House Bill No.76, of the Legislative Acts of the 1941, with reference to creating Improvement Districts, and alderman Sanders made a motion that the letter be received abd filed, secondediby alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously by the Cc IVariousI Alderman Sanders made almotion that the various Committes of the City Council be Committeesauthmrized to enter into contracts with employees of their respective departments, and t authorized Icontracts' to become effective when approved4 by the Council, this motion was seconded by to make lalderman McRoy, and on roll call by the Clerk, was passed unanimously by the Council. t Ben Porter approved Contracts E.`T.Bro..n M.Cunningha H.George A: .Shumate El�do Cole Jewt Hinkle Rov Nix Alderman 4aRoy� made a motion that the contract of Ben Porter as Street Foreman be approved by the Council, this motion wasesecotded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by the Clerk, was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Bronson made a motion that .the 6ontracts of E.T.Brown as Superintendent of the Water Department, M.Cunningham as Office Manager and Collector of the Water Depart- ment, Henry George as Assistant to the 8uperintendeht of the Water Department, A.F.Shumate as Foreman of the Street Cleaning Department, Eldo Cole as Car- marker, Newt Hinkle as Janitor and Roy Nix as Sewer Service Collector be approved by the Council, this motion was seconded by alderman Sanders, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council. Alderman Hosford, chairman of the Lighting Committee, reported a request for a light on the alley back of Abshier-Bryan Motor Cc and the Gateway Baking Co, alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter be referred to the Light iGcmmittee, with power to act, this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and.was passed uhanimously by the Council. There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to adjourn, seconded by alderman Sanders, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
