HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-02-24 MinutesFayetteville City Council met in regular session tlonday February 17th. 1941. !Present : Mayor A.D.McAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Brown, and aldermen ; Bronson ,Banks, Cregor'y,'Hosford, Mcroy, Peal, Sanders and Shook..Minutes of the regular meeting of February loth, were read and approved. L.L.Baxter and Bernal Seamster represenying the Chamber of bommerce, appeared before the Council to discuss the progress that had been made on Airport Project, Roy Scott, representing the Lion's Club, also appeared before the Council to fledge the support of the Lion's Club in the Airport development. Four Copies of the detailed audit of the City for the yeardl940, made by opies R.C.Frambers and Co. were presented and discussed, and alderman Sanders made a motion that of a940 1mount of $125.00 be paid to R.C.Frambers & Co. for the detailed audit f'or the year 1940 dit (this motion was seconded Ap by alderman McRoy, and received the unanimous vote of the Council; FThe question of an increase in salary for Ben Porter, foreman of the Street Depart - len orterment came up for discussion, and alderman Sanders,' chairman of the Street Committee,, made ncrease a motion that the salary of Ben Porter be placed at $$100.00 per Month, and that this motion in be effective from February 1st, 1941. this motion was seconded by alderman Banks, and ref salary ceived the unanimous vote of the Council Alderman Sanders made a motion that the expense account of Mayor A.D.McAllistlr and aidermaril to Little Rock, amounting to $$22.10, be allowed,sdconded by alderman Peal, which was passed unanimously by the Councils Alderman Gregory resented the Somme C g y p proposition of of the orbs around the Square, Make being too high, and after discussion,alderman Gregory made a motion that the proposition of steps in making steps for all the too -high curbs in the business district be turned over to the! urb Street Committee, with power to act, the work to be done under the supervision of the round City Engineer, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford, and was passed unanimously quare by the Councils There being no further business, alderman McRoy moved to Adjourn, seconded by alderman Hosford, which was dusty passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Presemt: A.D.McAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Engineer E.T.Brown, aldermen ; onwon, Banks, H osford, McRoy, Peal, Sanders and Shooks Absent: Alderman dregorys Minutes of the regular meeting of February 17th, were read and approved; The following bills were presentd, after thei approval by alderman Peal, chairman of the au&iting committee: Taylor Hannah $6.00, Henry George $6.05, Elmer Boyd $$12.00 Hal Elderton $9.60, Jim Gibsmn $$9.60, Hugh Pool $7.20, A.F.Shumato &22.50 and Otho Shumate "14.40, alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by alderman Banks, which was regularly passed by the Councils The following reports for the month of January were read by the Clerk: nuary Roy Nix as Sewer Service Collector, V.James Ptak, as Municipal Judge for the Cityaand for ports the County' and J.W.McGehee as City Collector and as City Clerk, alderman Sanders made a motion that the reports be received and filed, seconded by alderman Hosford, which received the unanimous vote of the Council I There being no further business, alderman Hosford Hosford moved to asjourn, seconded by alderman McRoy, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
