Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, M6nday February 3rd, 1940.
Present: Mayor A.D.McAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson,
City Engineer E.T.Brown, and aldermen; Bronson, Banks, Gregory, Hos£ord, McRoy, Peal
Sanders and Shook.
The minutes of tge regular meeting of January 27th, were read and approved.
The following mills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman Of

City Hospital from July 1st,

to January 1st, 1941,

and was passed unanimously
by the
Council. .
A committee from the Chamber of Commerce, consisting,of: Bernal Seamster,
L.L.Baxter,f3erry Vaughan,Clifton Wade and E.P.Pyeatt, appeared before the Council to
discuss ways and means of developing the City Airport to a No.2 classification after dJ
cussion, alderman Gregory made a motion that the Council utilize the value of the Old I
port to use in the acquisition of as much land adjacent to the New Airport, as will be
necessary to meet the requirements of a Number Twos (2) kirport, and to sponsor the W.PG

committee from the Chamber of Commerce in working out the details, and obtaining all tl
informatuon possible, with reference to the proposed rroject, this motion was seconded
alderman Sanders, and was passed unanimously by the Council,;
The Mayor appointed the following Committee:Aldermen; Sanders, Gregory and
Alderman dregory moved to go into Executive session , seconded by alderman Banks, whick
passed unanimously by the Uouncils and the Mayor declared the Council in Executive ses:
after discussion of various administrative matters, alderman "regory moved to go out of
bxecutive session, seconded by alderman Hosford, which was passed unani�jously by the
Council* and the Mayor declared the oyncil in regular session.

WHEREAS, there will be a vacancy in the office of the United States Senator
from Arkansas, and
WHEREAS, our,fellow citizen, Honorable Karl "reenhaw, is one of the most
outstanding and capable men in Arkansas to fill this vacancy, he being of unimpeacllebi@
character and integrity, a sound thinker and a brilliant Orator, and
WHEREAS, the Destiny of Arkansas will be best served by the apnointment of
Karl "reenhaw to fill the unexpired term of Senato Miller: ,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayettevill
Arkansas, that the Honorable Homer M.Adkins Governor of Arkansas, be memorialized to apT.
the Honorable Karl Greenhaw United States Senator to fill the unexpired term of Senator

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be immediately forwa
to Governor Adkins, Karl Greenhaw and to the Press.
