Fayetteville City Council met in regular sessiom, Monday September 30.1940..
Present; Mayor A.D.McAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson,
City Engimeer E.T.Brown, aldermen; Bronson, Banks, Uregory, Hosfor, McRoy, Peal, Sa
and Shook.
Minutes of the regular meeting of Septtember 23rd were read and approved;
The following bills were presented, after their approval,by aldermam Peal,

Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by
alderman Shook, which was regularly passed by the Council.

Alderman Sanders made a motion that the Street "epartment furnish the labor to
lay the Sidewalk in front Ruth Morley's place on South Locust 6treetjp also to furnish
the labor to lay the sidewalk in frontoof A.C.Uc,ker's property and 2 other property
owners adjoining the Ucker property on South Duncan Street, the property owners to
furnish the.material, this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and received the
unanimous vote of the Council.
There being no further business,
by alderman Hos,ford, which was duly passed

Present: Mayor A.D.McAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson,
City Engineer E.T.Brown, and aldermen Bronson, Banks, Gregory,Hosford, Peal, Sanders
and Shook. Absent: alderman McRoy;
Minutes of the regular meeting of October 30th were read, and it was suggested
that the minutes show why the C sgcil voted to furnish the labor for laying Sidewalks
on South Locust and South Duncan,.ewhich in the case of Ruth Morley on South BOcust,was
that_at the time the other walks were !did, withc >>Pl:P:k:Project, she could not finance
hers' and claimed that the only way she could finance it at this time was for the City
to furnish the labor, and in the case of A.C.Ucker Et -al on South Duncan, their walks
were included in the W.P.A.Project,but for some reason the W.P.A.didn't finish the job,
although the property owners were ready and willing for the walks to be laid under the
W.P.A.Project� after which the minutes were approved

Alderman Gregory made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by
alderman Hosford, which was regularly passed by the Council.
The Clerk reported that a vacancy had occurred on the Board of Commissioners of
Paving District No.430 by reason of D.G.Lehn having sold hisproperty in this District
and stated that Earle Bates had been recommended to succed D.�Lehn as a Commissioner it
this District, the Clerk also reported that A.C.Ucker had purchased property in this
District and wished to resign as a member od the Board. of Assessors of this DistAict,
and stated that J.W.Cohea had been recommended to succeed A.C.Ucker as a member of the
Board of assessore, aldeftan Gregory made a motion that the Clerk request these resigna,
tions be submitted in writing and filed with the Clerk and that the appointment of
Earl Bates as Commissioner and J.W.Cohea as Assessor of Paving District 14o. 43 be made,
to take effect when the resignations of D.G.Lehn as Commissioner and A.C.Ucker as Asses:
of Pavibg District No.43, had been filed with the Clerk. This motion was s6conded by
alderman Banks, and was passed unanimously by the Coumcil.
