The Mayor stated that the Oklahoma State Fire School will be in sessian)August 12 to
Ed ages 26th, and that Captain Edmond Wages of the Fire Department was anxious to attend, and
to attend would take his vacation at that time, alderman Hosford made a motion that the expenses
Fife School of Edmond Wages be ablowed,to attend said 8chool, seconded by alderman Gregory, and
at Stillwater received the unanimous vote of the Council(,

A letter was read by the Clerk from Bill McClain, expressing his appreciation
City offices of the efforts of the Mayor and members of the City Council in trying to save Fayettevil
to close franchise in the Arkansas -No. League
at 1 oclock
Alderman Bronson made a motion that all the City offices close at 1 oclock on
ISaturdays beginning July 20th and PM continuing up to and including SatArday, Septem-
ber the 14th, 1940•, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and was passed unani-
mously by the Council(•
ading Pool Alderman Gregory made a motion that a.committee be appointed to act with the
or "old Mayor and City Engineer to make an investigation of the cost of constructing a "Wading
S.Sohool Pool on the Old South School Playground, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford,
Ground and was passed unanimously by the Council; The Mayor appointed on this Committee, the
following: Gregory. Sanders and Shook'`.'
Alderman Shook called(:the attention of the Council to complaints from the City
Hospital of excessive speed and unnecceasary noises being made by the traveling public
in the vicinity of the Hospital on School Street, and suggested that appropiate signs
be erected on School Street notifying the public that it was a Hospital Zone, and it
was sug#ested that the Mayor investmgate the cost of said signs and report back to the
Council. I .
There being no further business, alderman Mckoy moved to adjourns secondd&lby

Minutes of the regular meeting of July 15th, were read and approved.

Mrs.LL Shir- Mr.John Roberts appeared before the Council and asked for apermit for Mrs.
merlpermit L,Vei Shirmer to erect a building on Lot 6, Bleak 2, Leuerett's 3rd Addittonswith the
de ied* foundation to be placed on the property lines after discussion, alderman Gregory made
a motion that the permit be refused, and the foundation placed 20 feet from the prop-
erty lines to comply with Ordinance number 848, this motion was seconded by alderman
Peals and on roll call b3; the Clerk received the followi{}g vote: Ayes; Bronson, Banks,
Gregory, Hosford McRoy, Peal,and Shook. Nays; Sanders. Xnd the Mayor declared passed,
as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay;

Paving District No.549 be notified to widen Maple Street, from Shady Avenue, to Vande-
Order to widen venter Avenuepa distance of Five (.5) feet on the South side, establishSng,the new South
Maple street line of the Street as Five (5) feet South of the Section line between ectops 16 and 9,

that the committee, consisting of Mayor A.D.McAllis er, City Attorney Price Dickson,
City Engineer E.T.Brown and alderman Geo.Sariders, who had planned to go to Littleq�Rockl
Tuesday, would stop off at Ft.Smith, for the School.
