Present : Mayor A.D.MeAllister, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Atttorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Browm, and aldermen ; Bronsft,* Banks, Gr8gOry,Hoaford, McRoy,Peal, Sanders and Shook. Minutes of the regulaer meeting of July 1st, were read and approved. And the Mayor declared, passed, as there were 7 Ayes and 1 Nay Miss Ruth Morley ?nd J.S.Jameson appeared before the Council in behalf of Rut ;ime Morley, oma whom a copy of a resolution passed Jthlylst, had been served, ordering her. to ;xtended have a siderjalk laid in front of her proerty on South Locust Street, afeer discussion, for alderman Sanders made a motion that the Resolution passed by the Council on July 1st, be Ruth amended to read "that work must be started on construction of sidewalk mentioned in said Morley Resolution, by.October lst,1940, and if not started by that time, then the provisions of Resolution will apply the same as if the time had not been extended, this motion was se Aderman Shook, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the following vote: Ayes; Banks, Gfiegory, Hosford, McRoy, Sanders and Shook. Nays; Bronson and Peal. And the Mayor declar passed, as there were 6 Ayes and 2 Nays'; it which of 51 d erred • uest the 4.63 The Mayor stated that the Oklahoma State Fire School will be in sessior%jAugust 12 to Ed wages 26th, and that Captain Edmond Wages of the Fire Department was anxious to attend, and to attendwould take his vacation at that time, alderman Hosford made a motion that the expenses Fite School of Edmond Wages be atlowed,to attend said School, seconded by alderman 11regory, and at Stillwater received the unanimous vote of the Councilf Okha . A letter was read by the Clerk from Bill McClain, expressing his appreciation City offices of the efforts of the Mayor and members of the City Council in trying to save Fayettev to close franchise in the Arkansas swC League at 1 oclock Alderman Bronson made a motion that all the City offices close at 1 oclock on 5aturdag, beginning July 20th and N= continuing up to and including Sattrday, Septem- ber the 14th, 1940:, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and was passed unani- mously by the Councilr• jading Pool Alderman Gregory made a motion that a.committee be appointed to act wit the ori "old Mayor and City Engineer to make an investigation of the cost of constructing a "Wading S.School Pool on the Old South School Playground, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford, Ground and was passed unanimously by the Councill: The Mayor appointed on this Committee, the following: Gregory. Sanders and Shook'; Alderman Shook calledathe attention of the Council to complaints from the City Hospital of excessive speed and unneccessary noises being made by the traveling public in the vicinity of the Hospital on School Street, and suggested that appropiate signs be erected on School Street notifying the public that it was a Hospital Zone, and it was suggested that the Mayor invest&gate the cost of said signs and report back to the Council. Nays; Sanders.
