Absent; alderman Gregory. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 24th were read and approved. Alderman Bronson introduced the following Resolution, and alderman Peal moved its adoption, seconded by alderman Bronson, amd on roll call by the Clerks receiv- ed the following vote: Ayes; Bronson, Ba L*- Hosford,McRoy, Peal and Shook. Nays: Sanders$ Absent and not vo$ibg: alderman regory. And the Mayor declared Adonted, as there were 6 Ayes and 1 Nay. R ES GLUT ION. WHEREAS, it is recognized that .there is sufficient pedestrian -traffic on South Locust Street within the City of Fayetteville to justify laying of—sidewalks along the West side of said street and, Ruth Morley WHEREAS, nearly all the property owners have already laid or caused to be sidewalks laid sidewalks constructed of Portland Cement and laid in accordance with regulations ordered in and on_the Grades hereinafter set forth, i NOW,"THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that the owner of the fIllowing described property, to -wit: Part of Block Numbered Thirty Eight (36) of the Original Town (now City) of Fayetteville,Arkansas, described as beginning at a point 4 chains, and 48 links North of the South East corner of said Block No.38, thence running West 2 chains and .46 links, thence North 2 chains and 3 links, thence East to the West line of South Locust Street,2 chains and 46 links, thence South 2 chains and 3 links to the place of beginning; cause to be laid on said South Locust.Spreet and,extending the full length of said property, a sidewalk of Portland Cement 4 feet in width,and one foot East ffom the said property line. That said walk be constructed on the grade gnd in the location fixed by the ordinances of the City of Fayetteville and the requirements of the City Engineer of said City, and that the materials comply with the specifications now on file with.the City Engineer for the constructiob of sidewalks constructed of Portland Cement, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council finds that said property is owned by Ruth Morley, and.a copy of this resolution shall be,deliveded to her, to the end that she may cause said walk to be laid in the manner hereinabove provided; and if said walk has not been.begun within Ten(lo) days from the date of the servdoe of a copy of this resolution on said Ruth Morley, such failure shall be construed as a re- fusal to so construct said walk or foot Pavement, and the City of Fayetteville shall proceed to advertise for bids for the construction of said sidewalk by publishing a notice in the Northwest Arkansas Times for one insertion, and shall let said contract to the lowest responsible bidder who shall be authorized to lay said walk, and the cost of said construction shall constitute a lien `on the above described real estate in accordance with statutes in that behalf provided. adopted this 1st day of July, 1940. Mayor To buy 5 feet Alderman Sanders made a motion that the City accept the proposition made by Mrs.Beulah from Cruse, to sell the'City Five (5) feet off the North side of her t with the corner Beulah of Maple and Vandeventer to be on an 18 foot radius, for a condideration of Two Hundred C se and Fifty Dollard ($250.001in cash and the City to build a retaining wall for Mrs.Cruse on Maple this motion was seconded by alderman Bronson, and on roll call by the Clerk, received street the following vats: Ayes; Bronson, Banks, Hosford, b1cRoy, Peal and Sanders. Nays; I Shook. Absent and not voting; Alderman Gregory. And the Mayor declared passed, as there were 6 Ayes and 1 Nay.
