Prof. Burt Farlow appeared before the Council and stated that the property
Request owners on Buchanan Avenue had the money in the bank to pay for the'paving on their
worklto Street, and requested the Council to endeavor to have their Project statpted as soon as
start on possible.
Buchanan Ave And the Mayor informed him that it was his understanding that the W.P.A.
officials planned to start the paving project on Buchanan Avenue and.that of Street
Improvement District No 46, at the same time`.'
The Committee;°that had been appointed td inspect the site of the proposed
Building buildings on Lot 1, Block 20Mt.Nord Addition, for which a Building Permit•had been re -
permit quested, made their report, without recommendations, and after discussion, alderman
denied Hosford made a motion that the request for a bolding permit for a'2- story Apartment
on Wolf House and a 4 -Car Garage, proposed to be erected on Lot 1, Block 2,Mt. Nord Addition,
Property be denied, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll ca"11 by the Clerk,
the following vote was recorded: Ayes; Gregory, Hosford, Mcroy, Peal and Shook, Nays:
Bronson, Banks and Sanders. And the Mayor declared the permit denied, as there were
5 Ayes, and 3 Nays.

Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance, ent6tled AN ORDINANCE FIXING
BUILDING LINES IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, and alderman Gregory
made a motion that the rules be auspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second read-
ing, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford, and on roll call by the Clerk receive
the unanimous vote of the Council.
The Clerk read the the'Ordinanoe the second time, and after discussion, the
Ordinance was left on its second reading':
Advertise Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Clerk advertise for bias for the
for bids construction of a sidewalk on South. Locust Street, in front of Lot 8, in lock 380
to construct Original Town, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by the Cler
eceived the following vote: Ayes; Bronson, Banka, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy Pedl and Sh
sS.Locusto t. gys: Sanders. And the Mayor declared passed, as there were 7 Ayes, and 1 Nay:
There being no further business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman Shook; which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the

Minutes of the regular meeting of June 17th, were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of
the auditing committee: Jackson Cafe $3.45,Southwestern Gas & Electric CO. 10.54 and
$10.67,Johnson & McBr&de $56.92, Magnolia Petroleum Co. $3.831 Ben Porter ye2o.00, Elmer

$14.000 A.F.Shumate $20.00, and Othm Shumate $12.00. Alderman Sanders made a motion
that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by alderman Bronson, which was regulap
ly passed by the Council.
May Reports The following reports for the month of May were read by the Clerk: Clyde Welters
Filed* as Building Inspector, A.D.McAllister as ex -officio Chief of the Ftre bepartment and
as ex -officio Chief of Police.V.James Ptak, as Municipal Judge for the City and for
the'County, Roy Nix, as Sewer Service Collector, and J.W.MoGehee, as Collector and as
City Clerk. Alderman Hosford made a motion that the reports be received and filed,
seconded by alderman Peal, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
The question of some property ownersliving outside the City'Limits, desiring
to connect with the City Sewer. syst9m, was discussed, and alderman SAnders made a motto
that the matter be referred to the ewer Committee, with power to act (over
Fayetteville City Council me8 in regular session, Monday June 17th,1940.
