E.Hastings and Dr. Preston L.Hathcock appeared before the Council to protest- the issuance of a. building permit for a 2 -story Apartment House and a 4 -car gar- age,'.on Lot''l.;U- n Block 2 Mt kord Addition after discussion, alderman Bronson made a motion that the hearing be pos7gtponed till next ionday Right, and a committee be appointed to in spect the site of the proposed buildings and to check the Ordinanees pertaining thereto this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor appointed the the following committee: Bronson,Gregory and Banks. Dr.N.F.Drake appeared before the Council. and stated that he understood there was some talk of planning to enlarge the New Air -port, and since he was the principal contributor of funds to purchase the Old Air-port,he would be glad for the Council to work out somelplan whereby the funds he had contributed, could be transferred to a fund for the development of the New Airport, as he had always been interested in the development of aviation., and suggested that the Council consider selling the Old Air -port, if a reasonable price canlbe obtained, or if not sold, to use the Old Air-portas collateral to secure funds, and in either event to applythe funds received therefromon the purchase of land to enlarge the New Air -port Alderman Sanders made a motion that a committee be appointed to see what price could be secured on the Old Airport, or what arrangement could be made to borrow money on thel Old Air -port, also to dscertaintthe price of the land adjoining the New Airport, that would be suitable for enlarging said -Air -port, this motion was seconded by alderman Bronson, 'nd received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor appointed the Street'Committee,to be assisted by the Mayor and City Attorney The Mayor reporteddthat he had revived a complaint from Miss Lighton with reference to odors coming from the Jerpe Dairy roducts Co. and after discussion, it was decided for the Mayor to inform Miss Lighton that there was nothing the Council could do about the matter, and to sdggest that she take the matter up with Dr.Turner. The question of vacations for the City employees was brought up for discussion, and while no vote was taken on the matter, it seemed to be the unanimous opinionof the Council that all the City employees be permitted to take a 2 weeks vacation, with the understanding that they follow the usual custom of completing theirvacations before the opening of school in September. There being no ftkrther business, alderman Bronson moved to adjourn,tilln7±30 ThurasHight seconded by alderman Gregory; which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared. the Council adjourned, till 7-30, Thursday.night June 13th. a�7f yor Fayetteville City Council met in adjourned session, Thursday, June 13th, 1940 Present:D.McA lister Mayor, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Engineer E.T.Brown, aldermen: Bronson, ganks, Hosford, McRoy, Peal, Sanders and Shook. Absent: alderman Gregdry. The proposed rules and regulations for the Police Department were read, and discussion, it was decided to postpone action on their adoption, till a few of the sec could be checked with the City Attorney. The Insurance committee, to whom had been referred, the request of Lewis & Co wis& Co for a part of the Insurance business of the Cipy,made their report, and recommended that Lewis & Co. be given $10,000.00 of insurance on the City Building:, in the fmilowing ven amounts: $3,500.00 carried by Cravens & Co, and expiring June 17th, 1940, $3,500.Q0 0.000 carried by Eason & Co. expiring June 17th, 1940, and $3,000.00, carried by Renner-Carmich suranceexpiring'August 18th, 1940. Alderman Hosford made a tpotion that Lewis & Co $ib^givd32C;0 of $10:1-00000 of insurance in the amounts, and on the dates of expiration recommended by tYe committee, this motion was seconded by alderman Sanders, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council.(Who were present).
