Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, June 3rd. 1940.

Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed,; as approved, seconded by
alderman MoRoy, which was regularly passed by the Council.
The Clerk read a Petition, protesting the issuance of a building permit for the
ng erection of a 2 -story apartment house and a 4gcar garage on Lot 1e in lock 2, Mt Nord
Mock ddition,# after discussion, alderman Sanders made•a motion that a hearing on the Petitioi
be set for next regular meeting, Monday June 10th,andzthat4the•7Clerk.belinstpuctdd,ton

motion was seconded by alderman Bronson, and received the unanimous,vote of the Council...

la to be tration building. was presented, and alderman Sanders made a motion that they be allowed
to place the machine in the building on 30 days trial, with the understanding that if
n it was not satisfactory, that the machine would be removed at the end of thirty days,
g• this motion was seconded by alderman Shook, and recedved the unanimous vote of the
`Council.
Mayor McAllister made a report of his trip to Little Rock, and stated that
Mr Sharp had assured him #hat the Airport Project would be started in a very short time,
e also stated that his expenses amounted to $4.50, and asked that this amount be approve
alderman Sanders made a motion that a warrant for $4.50 be drawn, seconded by alderman
ronson,which was passed unanimously'by the Council,
there being no further business, alderman Sanders moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman Hosford, which was duly passed by the council, and the Mayor declared the 0,;1_1Council adjourned.

Notice is hereby given that on account of the Commencement Exercises at the
University of Arkansas, the regular meeting of City Council Monday Night June 10th,

CONSENT TO MEETING
We, the undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
hereby accept acknowledgment of the foregoing notice, and. consent and agree that said
Council shall meet at the time and place therein named;,and for the purpose therein
stated;

Mr. & Mrs. Geo. E.Hastings and Dr. Preston L.Hathcock appeared before the Counci
to protest the issuance of a building permit for a 2 -story Apartment House and a 4 -car
ageapn Lot'1.:3tYci Block 2 Mt kord Addition after discussion, alderman Bronson made a mot
that the hearing be posXtponed till next ionday #ight, and a committee be appointed to
in spect the site of the proposed buildings and to check the Ordinances pertaining ther
this motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and received the unanimous vote of the Ce
The Mayor appointed the the following committee: Bronson,Gregory and Banks.
Dr.N.F.Drake appeared before the Council and stated that he understood there w,
some talk of planning to enlarge the New Air -port, and since he was the principal contr
of funds to purchase the Old Air-port,he would be glad for the Council to work out some
whereby the funds he had contributed, could be transferred to a fund for the developmen
of the New Airport, as he had always been interested 1n the development of aviation., a.
suggested that the Council consider selling the Old Air -port, if a reasonable price can
obtained, or if not sold, to use the Old Air-portas collateral to secure funds, and in
event to applythe funds received therefromon the purchase of land to enlarge the New Ai
Alderman Sanders made a motion that a committee be appointed to see what price c
be secured on the Old Airport, or what arrangement could be made to borrow money on the
Old Air -port, also to dscerta;Sntthe price of the land adjoining the New Airport, that w
be suitable for enlarging said'Air-port, this motion was seconded by alderman Bronson,
received the unanimous vote of the Council.
The Mayor appointed the Street'Committee,to be assisted by the Mayor and City At
The Mayor reporteddthat he had received a complaint from Bliss Lighton with reference to
odors coming from the Jerpe Dairy rroducts Co. and after discussion, it was decided for
the Mayor to inform Miss Lighton that there was nothing the Council could do about the
matter, and to sdggest'that she take the matter up with Dr,Turner.
The question of vacations for the City employees was brought up'for discussion,
and while no vote was taken on the matter, it seemed to be the unanimous opinionof the
Council that all the City employees be permitted to take a 2 weeks vacation, with the
understanding that they follow'the usual custom of completing theirvacations before the
opening of school in September.

Present: QQ ,A;lister Mayor, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Engineer E.T.Brown, alderme
Bronson, Lanks, Hosford, McRoy, Peal, Sanders and Shook. Absent: alderman Gregdry.
The proposed rules and regulations for the Police Department were read, and
discussion, it was decided to postpone action on their adoption, till a few of the sect
could be checked with the City Attorney.
The Insurance committee, to whom had been referred, the request of Lewis & Cd
for a part of the Insurance business of the Cit;y,made their report, and recommended that
Lewis & Co. be given $10,000.00 of insurance on the City Building;, in the f6llowing
amounts: $32500.00 carried by Cravens & Co, and expiring June 17th, 1940, $3,500 .0
carried by Eason & Co. expiring June 17th, 1940, and $3,000.00, carried by Rennerlarmich
xpiring'August 18th, 1940. Alderman Hosford made a 7potion that Lewis & Co W'givenG0 o^'
$10:100000 of insurance in the amounts, and on the dates of expiration recommended by tYe
committee, this motion was seconded by alderman Sanders, and on roll call by the Clerk,
received the unanimous vote of the Council,(Who were present).
The Insurance Committee further recommended that a plan be worked out with
he Insurance Companies, whereby all policies will mature on Juni 30th each year,,, I
