HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-04-22 Minutes449 Alderman Gregory moved to go into executive session, seconded by alderman Peal which was regularly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Councillin Executive session, after discussion of various administrative matters, alderman Bronson moved to go out of executive session, seconded by alderman Hasford, which pas passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session: There being no further business, alderman dregory moved to adjourn, secdnded by alderman Brohson,which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. V Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, 9pril 22nd,1940 or jhe absence of the Mayor was noted, and alderman Shook made a motion that alderman a y anders be elected Mayor Pro -tem, this motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and was bsent assed unanimously. The roll was called by the Clerk,and the following answered present: Bronson, Banks, cRoy.Peal, Sanders and Shook. Absent: Mayor, EcAllister,aldermen, Gregory and Hodford Minutes of the regular meeting of April 15th, were read and appeoved.. The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, Chairman of the auditing committee: J.W.Shelley $15.25, Benyorter $20.00, Elmer Boyd $14.40, Hugh Pool $9.00, Clarence nice $13.00, Herschel Holloway $10.00,A.F.Shumate $20.00 and Otho Shumate $12.00.Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as apnrov seconded by alderman Shook, which was regularly passed by the Council. Alderman Peal, chairman of the auditing committee, reported that they had Report of examined the 1st Annul report of Street Improvement District N0.47, and found it to be District no be correct, and made a motion that the report be received and filed, seconded by alder - 147. Inan McRoy, which received the unanimous vote of the Council. Alderman Peal made a motion that the City Clerk be instructed to notify the Notice to Civil Service Commission, to fill a vacancy on the Board of the Civil Service Commission Civil Ser- caused by the expiration of the term of Hal Douglass, this motion was seconded by alder- vice Com. man Bronson, and received the unanimous vote of the Council to Sill vacancy There being nofurther business, alderman Bronson moved to asjourn, secomded by alderman McRoy, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. The report of Activities of Milk Control Inspectors for period ending March 31, 1940, and the report of A.D.McAllister, as Ex -officio Chief of the Fird Department for the month of March, were read by the Clerk, and alderman Sanders made a motion that the reports•be received and filed, seconded by alderman.Pea1, which was duly passed by the Council.IM Carnival J.E.Brewer appeared before the Coun it and requested the Council to sus - license fees pend the License fees for a Carnival to be held in the near future, and sponsored by suspended the Veterans of Boreign Wars., after discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion that the request be granted, seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by,the Clerk tho following vote was recorded: Ayes: Bronson, Banks, McRoy,Peal and Sanders. Nays: Gregory, Hosford and Shook. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 5 Ayes and permit to 3 Nays. II build retain- The Mayor presented the matter of several property owners buiding retaining irig wall walls too close to the Street, and after discussion, alderman Peal made a motion to f'3itt the Ordinahce Committee be ins`truote'd to draw up an Ordinanse requiring property owners to obtain a permit before building any retaining wall on the property line, this motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
