Clerk, Allen Banks, Alderman,lst Yard, Earl Shook, ogether Alderman 2nd Ward, Jerome McRoy, Alderman 3rd Ward, and H.M.Hosford, Alderman 4th Ward. The Clerk then called the roll and the following aldermen answered present: Bronson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Peal and Shook. Absent:alderman Sanders: The request of the National Cemetery for permission to connect with the City Sewer Line, won Governilent Avenue, was presented,aldo the request of 7 or 8 property owners onthe same Street, alderm n Gregory made a motion that the matter be referred to the Sewer Committee and Cit `ngineer, with power to act. This.motion was seconded by alderman Hosford, and received the ,unanimous vote of the Council* Alderman Bronson made a motion that a warrant be drawn tosJ:K::Gregory for X4.52 for expense of his car in. taking a Committee to Eureka Springs to Inspect a new truck and equipment for the Fire Department, this motion was seconded by alderman Peai, and was passed unanimously. The Mayor appointed on this Committee:Aldermen; Gregory, McRoy and Shook* elephone Alderman Shook made a motion that the South Western Bell Telephone be notified that the Council desired to terminate its present Contract with them, at the expiration of its . notified present term, which will be July 1st, 1940.this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford and was passed unanimously by the Councilo rminate ontract. J p_4 J.E.Brewer appeared before the Counrin and requested the Council to sus- pend the License fees for a Carnival to be held the near future, and sponsored by the veterans of Boreign Wars., after discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion that the request be granted, seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by.the Clerk the following vote was recorded: Ayes: Bronson, Banks, McRoy,Peal and Sanders. Nays: Gregory, Hosford and Shook. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 5 Ayes and 3 Nays. I ' The Mayor presented the matter of several property owners buiding retaining walls too close to the Street, and after discussion, alderman Peal made a motion to tYaoi the Ordinance Committee be inArpu%cteVj to draw up an Ordinance requiring property owners to obtain a permit before building any retaining wall on the property line, this motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
