The Clerk then called the roll and the following aldermen answered present:
Bronson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Peal and Shook. Absent:alderman Sanders:
The request of the National Cemetery for permission to connect with the City Sewer
Line, won Governilent Avenue, was presented,aldo the request of 7 or 8 property owners
onthe same Street, alderm n Gregory made a motion that the matter be referred to the
Sewer Committee and Cit `ngineer, with power to act. This.motion was seconded by alderman
Hosford, and received the ,unanimous vote of the Council*
Alderman Bronson made a motion that a warrant be drawn tosJ:K::Gregory for X4.52
for expense of his car in. taking a Committee to Eureka Springs to Inspect a new truck and
equipment for the Fire Department, this motion was seconded by alderman Peai, and was
passed unanimously.

Alderman Gregory made a motion that a Committee be appointed to work out the details
of the Garbage Contract'under the new b'rdinance (No.828)that was voted in at the General
Election April 2nd, 1940, and have the contract ready for submission to the Council at its
next regular meeting, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford,and received the unanimous'

to lease the Old Airport for Racingo but was informed that the Council would not considerlit.

Alderman Gregory moved to go into executive sessdon, seconded by alderman Peal
which was regularlt passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Councillin
Executive session, after discussion of various administrative matters, alderman Bronson
moved to go out of executive session, seconded by alderman Hasford, which pas passed
unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session:

1940, and the report of A.D.McAllister, as Ex -officio Chief of the Fird Department
for the month of March, were read by the Clerk, and alderman Sanders made a motion that

pend the License fees for a Carnival to be held the near future, and sponsored by
the veterans of Boreign Wars., after discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion that
the request be granted, seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by.the Clerk the
following vote was recorded: Ayes: Bronson, Banks, McRoy,Peal and Sanders. Nays:
Gregory, Hosford and Shook. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were 5 Ayes and
3 Nays. I '
The Mayor presented the matter of several property owners buiding retaining
walls too close to the Street, and after discussion, alderman Peal made a motion to
tYaoi the Ordinance Committee be inArpu%cteVj to draw up an Ordinance requiring property
owners to obtain a permit before building any retaining wall on the property line, this
motion was seconded by alderman McRoy, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
