Fayetteville City Council met ih regular session, Monday, April 8th.1940.
Present: Mayor.A.D.MeAllister, City Clerk, J.W.McGehee; gbty Attdrney;-Price Dickson,
City Engineer ,E.T.Brawn* and aldermen; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal and
Shook. Absent: Aldermen Sanders and Ucker.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 25th. and April 8th were read and
approved.
The following bills were presented after their approval by alderman Peal,
chairman of the auditing committee:

Alderman Carter made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded
alderman Bronson, which was regularly passed by the Council.
Alderman Peal made a motion that the Clerk be instructed to advertise for
bids on the hauling of the garbage under the new ordinance (No.828) pasted at the
General Election, April 2nd, 1940, this motion was seconded by alderman ftosford, and
was regularly passed by the Counvil.

The 6ertificate of the Election Commigsioners was read by the Clerk, and alder-
man Bronson made a motion that a copy of the certificate be spread on thee minutes^ of
the Council, this motion was seconded by alderman Carter , and was passed unanimously
by the Council,.

Alderman Carter made a motion that the Council adjourn Sine Die, this motion
was seconded -by alderman Peal, upon the•:question being put before the Council, a unani-

The Mayor then called the New Council together and administered te Oath of Office
to the newly elected officers, as follows; V.James Ptak, Municipal udge, Price Dickson
City Attorney.;�J.W.McGehee , City. Clerk, Allen Banks, Alderman,lst tiJard, Earl Shook,
Alderman 2nd Ward, Jerome McRoy, Alderman 3rd Ward, and H.M.Hosford, Alderman 4th Ward.
The Clerk then called the roll and the following aldermen answered present:
ronson, Banks, Gregory, Hosford, McRoy, Peal and Shook. Absent:alderman Sanders's
The request of the National Cemetery for permission to conne'st with the City Sew
Zine, won GoverraReftt Avenue, was presented,aldo the request of 7 or 8 property owners
onthe same Street, alderm�n Gregory made a motion that the matter be referred to the
Sewer Committee and City `'ngineer, with power to act. This.,motion was seconded by aldermar.
Hosford, and received the :unanimous vote •of the Council,.
Alderman Bronson made a motion that a warrant be drawn tor•J K Gregoiy•for $4.52
for expense of his car in.taking a Committee to.Eureka Springs to Inspect a new truck and
equipment for the Fire Department, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and was
passed unanimously.
Alderman Bronson made a,motton that the Water Department pay the sum of $50.00
on•the purchase of .the Fair Grounds, seconded by aldermpLn Pea , and on roll'cPll by the
Clerk, the following vote•was eecorded: Ayes..Bronson,, anks, osfprd, McRoy, eal and Shook.
Nays:•Gregory. and the Mayor declared, carried•, as there were 6 Ayes.'and 1 Nay.
The request of.the Sewing Project, that the,Council assume a art of the expense -
of purchasing, material for them so came up for discAssion, and alderman Gregory made a motion
that the request be refused, on account of the diminished condition of the•Budget for
Miscellaneous expense.This motion was seconded b alderman hosford, and on roll call by the
Clerk, receeved the following vote:Ayes: Banks, regorys Hosford, McRoy,Peal and Shook.
Nays: Bronson. and the Mayor declared the request refused, as there were 6 Ayes, And 1 Ways
There being no further business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned.

Alderman Bronson made a.mojion that the Bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by aldeiman
Shook, which was regularly passed by the Council
The following reports for the month of March, were read by the Clerk; Clyde alters,
as building Indpector, Roy Nix as Sewer Service Coll etor, A.D.McAllister, as Ex -officio
Chief of Police and as Ex -officio Chief of the Fird Department, V.James Ptak as Municipal
•Judge.for the Cijty6 and also for the County, and J.W;McGehee, assCity Collector and as City
Clerk: Alderman” regory made a motion that the Reports.be received and filed, this moiion
was seconded by alderman Hosdord, and was duly passed by the Council':
The report d)f, the Board of Public Affairs, relative to the purchase of a new truck
and equipment for the Fire Department, was presented, and alderman Brondon made a motion that
the report be received, and the City Attorney be instructed to draw up AX1. 1' D 1 ]"lA bCIE
authorizing the purchase of a truck and equipment for the Fire Department, s m— o o was sec-
onded by alderman Peal and on roll call by the Clerk was passed unanimously. IsAlderman Gregory made a motion that a Committee be appointed to work out the details
of the Garbage Contrack under the new b'rdinance (No.828)that was voted in at the General
Election April 2nd, 1940, and have the contract ready for submission to the Council at its
next regular meeting, this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford,and received the unanimous
vote of the Council. The Mayor appointed on this Committee:Aldermen; Gregory, McRoy andIShook•
Alderman Shook made a mojtion that the South Western Bell Telephone be notified that
the Council desired to terminate its present Oontract with them, at the expiration of its
present term, which wtll be July lst, 1940.this mo$lon was seconded by alderman Hosford
and was passed unanimously by the Council.
The Plat 6f•4T1%Reed1s Subdivision" was presented to the Council for approval, but
after discuesion,alderman Hosford made a motion that approval of the Plat be rejected, ion
account of the width of "Reed Avenue" as shown on the Plat being only 18 Ft.and 10 inches,
and that Miss Reed be notified, unless a new Plat be submitted, showing the width of
"Reed Avenue``to be as much as 40 feet the Council would not consider approving it, this.
motion was seconded by alderman Gregory, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
The Budget committee woe submitted their report, and after discussion, it' was
decided to postpone action till.next meeting of the Council•
A member of the Motop Cycle glub appeared be fore the Council and asked permission
to lease the Old Airport for acing, but was informed that the Council would not consilerlit.
