WHEREAS, in the event of its adoption by the people on April 2, 1940, the City
Council desires to clarify the question of administration of the terms of said ordiru
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of,,,Fayetteville,
Arkansas, that in the event Initiative Ordinance No. l of the City of Fayetteville is
adopted.by the people, the tax or license to be charged, where a person, firm or corpo-
ration is engaged in more than one classified business operated on the same premises
or in •,'...tile same building; shall be. the tax applicable to the major business .conducted
by.said person, firm or corporation and only one tax shall be collected.
Alderman•.Shook•,made a motion that the Resolution be adopted, seconded by alderman
Peal, and on 'roll calf bjt the Clerk the following vote was recorded: Ayes: Shook and
Peal. Nays: Bronson garter, fiosford, Sanders and Ucker. And the Mayoh declared the
Resolution refected , as there were 2 Ayes and 5 Nays,
There being no further business, alderman Brohson moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman Hosford, which was duly passed by the Council, and, the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.,, ,

Minutes of the regular meeting of March 11th were read and approved•

lderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by ald-
rman Carter, which was regularly passed by the Council.
W.E.MC horter, Hal Douglass ,Ralph Lewis and Hugh Lawson appeared before the
Council to ask that thepass a Resolution as to the administration of the proposed
Initiative 0rdinance"tox Gich•is to be voted on at the general election April 2nd,1940
The Mayor presented the request of Mrs.Dr.Ellis that the Council allow the
amount of $5.00 each month for five months, beginning April 19t to be applied on,the
upkeep.of Arkansas Avenue. Alderman Gregory made a motion that the request be ell.owed,
seconded by alderman Hosford,•which received the unanimous vote of the Council.

alderman Bronson, which was regularly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council in executive session, after the discussion of various administrative matters.

which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council in
regular session.

to be included, at a considerable reduction from the regular list price, and made a
ick motion that the Council purchase the 1J ton truck equipped, as outlined by the committee
and to comply with the recommendation of the Fire Prevention Bureau, this motion was
seconded by alderman Hosford „,and on roll call by the Clerk, received the following'
vote: hyess Bronson, Carter, Gregory, fiosford, Peal.. Shook and Ucker. Nays: Sanders,
And the Mayor dedlared, carried, as there were 7 Ayes and 1 day.
Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Fire Committee be inst, cted
to follow the usnaiVroceedure in making the purchase of a 12 ton truck for the Fire
Department, to be Kuipped as outlined by the report of the Fire Committee, this motion
was seconded by alderman Gregory, and received the unanimous vote of the ouncil.
Alderman Hosford introduced the following Resolution, and moved its
adoption, secomded by alderman Feal;_and on roll call by the Clerk received the followJ. i
ing vote: Ayes; Carter, Hosford, Pea1R Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays: Bronson and
Gregory. And the Mayor declared the esolution adopted, as there were 6 Ayes, and 2 Nayls.
R E S 0 L U T I O N
WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City Council of the
City of Fayetteville that there are certain ambiguities in proposed Initiative Ordirfan
No 11.of the City of Fayetteville with respect to the administration of said ordinance
in the event of its adoption:
NCNI,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Codncil of the City of Fayette
ville, that,in the event of the adoption of Initiative Ordinance No 10 by the qualifi
electors of the City of Fayetteville, at the general election on April 20 19400 it wi
be administered in an•equitable manner as free from discrimination as possible, and a
one person, firm or corporation operating a business in one location which may have
more thah one classification under the strict terms of said ordinance, will not be
charged on all classifications according to the present schedule of the proposed
ordinance. '

The request of the W.P.A.Sewing Project for funds to heap purchase material
ewing way presented by the Mayor, who stated that he had been informed that unless the funds w
roject provided, the Sewing Project would be discontinued, and he also stated that the amount a

Peal, and was passed unanimously by the Council.
Alderman Bronson made a motion that a warrant.be drawn to ':$.Williams,
?ecretary od the Board of Election Commissioners, for the sum of $109.25 to pay the expe
of holding the General Election on April 2nd, 1940. This motion was seconded by alderman
Carter, and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Alderman Bronson made a motidn that the Mayor be instructed to write Mi
tter Ruth Morley, a copy of the letter to be sent to Mr.W:S.Po&lard, that if work on a sidewa
along the East side of her property on South Locust Street has not been started by April
