Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, March 4th, 1940.
Present: Mayor, A.D.MCAllister, City Clerks J,W,McGehee,.City Attorney, Price Dickson,
City Engineer, E.T.Brown and aldermen, Broson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders,
Shook and Ucker. i ,
Minutes of the regular meeting of February 26th, were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by

Alderman Ucker made a motion that the bills be allodred, as approved, seconded
alderman Bronson, which was regularly passed by the Council.
The resignation of Jodie McMullen as commissibner of Water Improvement Distri
No. 2 was read by the Clerk, alderman Sanders made a motion that his resignation'be ac
seconded by alderman Hosford,which received the unanimous vote Sf the Council.
Alderman Sanders made a motion that W.N.Hudson be appointed as Commissioner in
Water Improvement District No,2 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jodie
McMullen, this motion was seconded by alderman Ucker and received the unanimous vote
of the Council.
The first Annual report of the Commissioners of, Street Improvement District No,
was presented, and alderman Sanders made a motion that the report be'referred to the
auditing committee, which received, the unanimous vote of the Council.
Miss Pesrl Porter appeared before the Council and registered a complaint about
the cleaning of Center Street, and after discussion, aldeman Gregory made a mot16n.,that
the merchants be notified to clean up their places of business and warned to keep them
clean, as the Ordinance pertaining to keeping business places clean would be enforced
and that the Street committee be instructed -to try to work out some plan whereby the
alleys may be cleaned on a regular schedule. This motion was seconded by alderman Hosfa
and received the unanimous vote of the Council.
There being no further business, alderman Bronson moved to adjourn, seconded
alderman Sanders, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Coun
adjpurned.

The Mayor reported that M,S,Gabbard wanted to purchase some Ash Trees out

to make an investigation as to the location of the trees and use his discretion as to
making the sale.this motion was seconded by alderman Hosford and was regularly passed by the
Council.
