Fayetteville City Council met "in regular session, Monday, February 19th, 19401
Present: Mayor, A.H.MeAll.isterp Cit $ Clerk, J.W.MdGehee;-City Attorney, Price Dickson,
City Engineer, E.T.Brown,Aldermehi "ronson, Carter, Gregory,_Hosford, Peal, Sanders,
and Shook. Absent: alderman Ucker.
Minutes of the regular meeting of February 12th, were read and approved*
Thr following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of
the auditing committee: Washington Hotel $2.55, W.M.Fishback $6.750 The Automotive Inc.

Aldermanegory made a motion that the bills be ablowed, as approved, seconded by

Mr.M.H.Bell of the firm of R.C.Frambers & Co. was present and explained in
detail the combined audit of the Citys' affairs for the year 1939.
The Clerk read a letter from the Washington County Child Welfare Advisory
Letter Committee, commending the City Council For what they considered one of the first steps
rom to provide a Manned recreational program for the Youth of Fayetteville, referring to
id the recent leasing of the South Side PlayfBeld; alderman darter made a motion that the
lfareo letter be received and filed, seconded by alderman Peal, which was duly passed by the
Council.
J.M.Williams The Mayor announced the resignation of Mr.J.M.Williams as a member of the
Resigned Board of Federal Housing Authority alderman Sanders made a motion that the resignati,
F.H.A. Board be accepted, seconded by alderman Aronson, which received the unanimous vote of the
Coundil.
Alderman Gregory made a motion that W.E.Graham be appointed as a member of
W.E.Graham the Board of Federal Housing Authority to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation
appointed of Mr.J.M.Williams, this motion was seconded by alderman Carter, and was posed unand
F.H.A.BoaPd mously by the Council.
A bill from Central Canners Inc. was presented, for damage caused by a
faulty Fire lug beside the basement of the Simpson-Mintun Building and the removal of
the Storage lug
on the North side of the Garment Factory, amounting to 061.22, of whi(
the City Water Plant had paid one-half, or $30.61p leaving a balance of 30.61 to be
paid by the Cityp alderman Sanders made a motion that the bill be allowed, seconded by
alderman Pealp which received the unanimous vote of the Council

Rules &IRegulationo The General Rules And Regulations of the Fayetteville Fire iepartment were
approved presentedpand alderman Carter, echairman of the Fire Committee made a motion that they t
approved, seconded by alderman Brondon, which received the unanimous vote Of the Coune'
W.P.A.Project The question of sponsoring the W.P.A.Project for improving the City Airpo3
for Airport came up for discussicnpand alderman Sanders made a mc*ion that the Mayor be given
approved* authority tom sign the papers approving the Project, this motion was seconded by alder-
man Bronson ,.and on roll' call by the Clerke received the'following vote: Ayes; Bronson
Hosford, Peal and Sandera.,Nays: Carter, Gregory and Shook. Absent and not voting:Ucker.
And the Mayor declared, carried, as there were 4^Ayes and 3 Mays.
There being no further business, alderman Bronson moved to adjourn, second
by alderman Shook, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

motion that the bills be alloyed, as approved, seconded by alderman Shook, which was
regularly passed by the Council.
A bill for a broken glass in the office of the O.K.Taxi Co.'for $9.70 was
presented and alderman Sanders made a motion that the bill be allowed, seconded by
ei alderman loarter, which received the unanimous vote of the Council*
A letter from the Arkansas Municipal League, giving information on the plan
_ for initiating an act to permit Cities to vote millage tax for Fire aid Police pension
funds was read by the.Clerk, but no action was taken by the Councils
Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Mayor and a committee from the
Council be authorized to go to Tulsa to inspect a new Fire Truck being bVilt there,
this motion was secdnded by alderman Shook and received the unanimous, vote of the Councl
There being no further business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seco
by alderman Peal, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the C
oil adjourned.
