Present: Mayor, A.D.McAllister, City Clerk, J.W.IvIcGehee,City Attorney, Price Dickson, City Engineer, E.T.Brown, Aldermen; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent : Alderman Hosford* Minutes of the regular meeting of December 18th, were read and approved. The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of the auditin§ connndttee: Johnson Cafe 01.00, Jackson Cafe �'d0.950 Ben P rter 020.00, Elmer Boyd IplO.800 Hugh Pool x8.25, Herschel Holloway tir7.25, Geo. Bona q4.50, A.F.Shumat '"20.50, Willie Wilcox `t712.02, Otho Shumate '1012.00P Grover Wages 010.50, Bill Morris 04.8 Ben Tune 54.801 Elmer Boyd x3.60, Herschel Holloway 0,3.60, Geo.Bond 01.00: Alderma Carter made a motion that the hills be allowed, as apprdyed, seconded by alderman Bronso which was regularly passed by the Council. To calk''I indows Alderman Gregory presented the proposal of the Chamberlain I;etal Feather Strip Cc left to l to CALK all the window openings in the City Administration Building, except the West halt` oi'—the third floor, (belonging to the Masonic Lodge) for the sum of 0100.00, Building Committee alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter be referred to the Building committee, with power to act, seconded by alderman Ucker, which received the unanimous vote of the Council; Stop Signs to Alderman Peal made a motion that Stop,Signs be placed on Gregg Avenue at the North and South approaches to Lafayette Street, seconded by alderman Bronson be placedon and on roll call by the Clerk, received the following vote: Ayes: Bronson, Peal, Shook and Ucker. Nays: �at+ter and Gregory. And the Mayor declared carried, as there were Gregg Ale. 4 Ayes. And 2 Nays Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance, entitled " AN ORDINANCE FILLING VACANCIES IN THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COIN.IISSION OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANS:9S, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the Clerk, alderman Ucker made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second reading, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the 1 following vote: Ayes: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent, and not voting: Alderman Hosford. And tl:e Mayor declared carried, as there were 7 Ayes. and no Nays. The Clerk read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion that the rules be further suspended and the Ordinance placed on its third and final reading, seconded by alderman Shook, and on roll call by the Clerk received 7 votes in the affirmative. Absent and not voting; alderman Hosford. And the Mayor declared the motion carried, as there 7 Ayes and. no Nays: The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor then put the question " Shall the Ordinance pass"and on roll call by the Clerk the fdllowing vote resulted: Ayes: Carter, Gregory, Peal,Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Hays: Bronson. Absent, and not voting: Hosford. And the Mayor declared, passed, as there were 6 Ayes. And one Nay. Alderman Peal then moved that the emergency clause be adopted, seconded by alderman Gregory, and on roll call by the Clerk, received the following vote: Ayes: Bronson, Carter, uregory, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent, and not voting: alderman Hosford. And. the Mayor declared, adopted, as there were 7 Ayes, and no Nays. Ordinace R_ D I N A_ N C E. N 0. 8-3-9. No. 83All ORDINANCE FILLING VACANCIES IN THE MED.BERSHIP OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COI,.I, ISS'ION OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARP,ANSAS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKP.JSAS : SECTION I. That Hal Douglass, Henry A. Ritgerod and Charles P. Dodd be and they are hereby selected, appointed and designated to fill the offices of Civil Service Commissioners of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,succeeding B.F.McAllister Carlos Guisinger and Julian P.Owenbey, respective ly. SECTION 2.
