Fayetteville City Council met in regular session Monday, Oct.16th, 1939,
Present: Mayor, A.D.IdcAllister, City Clerk, J.V1.IvIcGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickson,
City ,Engineer, E.T.Brown, and aldermen: Bronsom, Carter, Gregory, Hosford,Peal, Sanders..
Shook and Ucker.
Liinutes of the regular meeting of Oct. 9th were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal,

mwde a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, seconded by aldreman Bronsyra
which was regularly passed by the Council.
Cit to The Clerk Mt presented a request of the Pr°perty owners on Buchanan Street
for the Cmty to sponsor the paving of Buchaman Street as a VI*P.A,Project, and7alde'rm n
Spomsor'W.P. Gregory made a motion that their request be granted,and that the City cooperate with
Pro jeet on them to the fullest extent, this motion was seconded by alderman Ilosord, and received
the unanimous vote of the Council,

It was suggested that a vacancy had occurred in Paving Improvement District
No.532 caused by C.17I.Beavers having sold his property in this district, and alderman
Bronson made a motion that Krs. Pearl Whitener be appointed as a Commissioner in this
District, seconded by alderman Peal, which received the unanimous vote of the Council

It was suggested that there wasVin Paving Improvement District Po.49, caused
by George Caudle having disposed of his property --in this district, an alderman Peal
made a motion that Hugh Kincaid be appointed as commissioner in this istrict, seconded
by aldcrman Shook , which was passed unanimously by the Council.
Aletter from the School Board was read by the Clerk, in which The 6chool
Board submitted a proposition to lease the old Jefferson School site to the City of
Fayetteville for a period of three ,years, with an option pf purchase at the expiration
of the three-year period, alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter be referred
to the Finance Committee for investigation, and r@P4rtback to the Council, this motion
was seconded by alderman Carter and was passed unanimously by the Council.
There being no further business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman ganders, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned:

Minutes of the regular Meeting of Oct, 16th were read and apppoved.
The following bills were presented., aftdr their approval by alderman Peal, chairman'

and VJillie Wilcox $12.00. Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be alloried,as
approved, secomded by alderman Ucker, which was regularly passed by the Council.
11ith reference to the Assessment Roll of Street -Improvement Distric(b N0.54, on
file with the City Clerk, a letter was read by the Clerk from the Board of Assessors,
which explained that they had made an errror in figuring the assessment on Lot 11 Block
6 Englewood Addition and partsof lots -7 & 8 in Mock 1, Englewood Addition, said error
Glen ose having been made , due to the fact that subsequent to the filing of the plat of Englewoo
Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, N.F.Drake had donated to the City, (20)f
Dorriq Leflar off the East side of lot (8) in Block (1) and (20) feet off the East side of Lot (1) in
Block (6) in said Addition for the purpose of widening Park Avenue along the East side

Assessments And Mjr.Glen Rose appeared before the Counciland protested his Assessment
in District on the ground that the Assessors had placed too high,a valuation on his Property, as a
54 reduced, basis for figuring his Assessment, after refiguring.Dir. Rose AsSegssment on the basis
of the valuation, suggested by Mr. Rose, Alderman Ucker made a :notion the following
change be made in Glen Rose Assessment on Lots (5) €i (6) in Block (1) Wilson's First
Addition kk- m)(4pe Viz; Deduce his present Assessment .from $560.45 to the amount of
$540.00 .
Also in line wi n changes suggested by Board of Assessors that Iurs. Leflar's
Assessment on part of Lots 7) & (8) in Block (1) Englewood Addition, be re(.;,,,C,"ey,50,49-
or from w437.47 to x,387.02, and N.F.Drake s Assessment on Lot (1) Block (6),be re;Kcet
H61,02 , or from $202.05 tO 0141.03, alderman Bronson seconded this motion., and on roll
call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Alderman Bronson introduced. an ordinance, entdtled "An ORDINANCE BRING L"ZACTEE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF F'AYETTEVILIE,ARKANSAS:
