RES O LUT I O N.
WHEREAS, plans for a proposed addition to the Post Office Building of the City
Fayetteville have been presented and carefully inspected by the City Council of the
ty of Fayetteville.. Arkansas, and
WHEREAS" said plans appear to be inadequate to meet the present needs and the
nticipated uses to which the 'said Post Office Building 'is to be put in the near future, and
VIHEREAS', under the proposed plans, the addition under consideration 'is estimate
o take care df the needs of the City of Fayettevillefor aperiod often(10) years, and1
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that to make said addition as now
vroposed would seriously jeopardize hU ing facilities of Federal Agencies now existing
' pnd anticipated in the near future, and would constitute an unsightly struture in the

NOVI,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Cijty of Fayetteville,
rkantas, that the plans as submitted be set aside, and that a 'request be made to the proper
ederal officials for plans and specifications for a new Post Office and Federal Building:

•No further business appearing, alderman Sanders moved to adjourn, seconded by
lderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Counc

The following bills were presented, after their approval by'alderman Peal, chairman of the

The Mayor stated that the Hi h -way Department w$ie very anxious to have Third
treet extended and had asked the City'elp in securing the Ril3jktof Way, after discussion,
lderman Shook made a motion that.the Street Committee work with a committee from the Chamber

f Commerce in trying to secure this Right of Uay, seconded by alderman Hosford, which received'
he unanimous vote of the Council.
The Mayor mentioned the need of a Lot for storage space for the Street department
nd the Water Department, and stated -that there was such a Lot avai]ka le just South of Highway

Aletter of appreciation for the construction of Sidewalks on Third Street
as read from the Board of Education.

On behalf of the School Administration, Board of Education, and pupils and patrons of the
Je4gerson School, I desire to express the fullest appreciation for the construction of the side-
valks on Third SteetZe l
You wiil recall that we have emphasized this needH for several ,years,
knowing full well that the City was financially unable to do the work, hence we do appreciate
fully the service you are rendering in constructing the side -walk mentioned. From the point
of service to pupils, there was no greater need through -out the entire City, for severall
hundred trips are made daily by pupils along Third Street. In addition, it is a benefit to U
residential property in that part of the City, where there is a limited amount of side-w&lks.

Alderman Ucker presented a Financial report of the City Hospital, from July 1st 1938 to f
July 1st 1939. Alderman Peal made a motion that the report be'recelived and filed, seconded by
alderman Bronson, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
There being no further business,alderman Sanders mdived to adjourn, seconded by
which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjour
