C Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, LIonday July 24th, 1939. Present : City Clerk, J.W.McGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickdon, City Engineer, E.T.Bro$r! Aldermen; Bronson,CartersGregory,Peal, Shook and Ucker. Absent Mayor, A.D.McAllister, aldermen; Holford and Sandersp Alderman Carter made a motion that alderman Gregory act as Mayor Pro -tem, second- ed by alderman Brdnson, which received the unanimous vote of the Council . Minutes of the regular meeting of July 17th, were read and approved. The following bills were presented, after theira proval by alderman Peal, chair- man of the auditing committee: Winkleman's Print Sh6p,17.85, Jackson's gafe $4.90, Ben Porter $17.50, Hugh Pool $10.500 Elmer Bo $12.00, Geo.Bond $12.00, Robert Porter 12.00, Herschel Holloway $6.00, A.F.Shumate 20.00, Willie Wilcox $12.90, N.M.Bare tim24.38, and James Sladen $29.00 and $1.00. Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, secomded by alderman Ucker, which was regularly passed by the Council No further business $ect to call by the Mayor, passed by the Council, and appearing, alderman Bronson made,a motion to adjourn, sub. this motion was seconded by alderman Ucker, which was duly the TA declared the Council adj� r^^a ATTEST LoUity ClerR. Nays; None. Absent and not voting:;Carter. Alderman Ucker made a motion that the Bills be allowed as approved, seconded by ald'erm n Sanders which was regularly passed by the Council. —_�'_ Mr. J.R.Cooper, R.B.Chaney and miss Lula Morrow appeared before the Council in further protest of the paving of Campbell Street, after discussion, it was decided that the Street Committee and the Mayor meet with the Protestants Tuesday Morning at 901clock to sh8w them just where the proposed paving would be located with reference 6 to their property. City Offices Alderman Shook made a motion that the City Offices begin closing at 1 O'Clok to close at on Saturday afternoon, beginning next Saturday and contdnuing through Saturday Sep- t O'clock. tember 16th, alderman Peal seconded the motion, which received the unanimous vote of all members 6f the council who were present.
