proved, seconded by alderman Shook, which was regularly passed by the Council.

Campbell St. The Mayor reported that the work of grading Campbell Avenue had been held up
by Mr.J.R.Cooper, who claimed to have a deed to part of the Street, and it was decided
work held up for the City Engineer, the City Attorney and the Mayor to check into the matter before
proceeding further.
Alderman Bronson introduced an Ordinance,entitled,"AN ORDINANCE'PROHIBITING
THE SALE, OFFERING FOR SALE OR FIRING OF FIREWORKS WITHIN THE,CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
The Crdimance was read in its entirety by the City Clerk, alderman Gregory
made a motion that the rules be suspended and the Ordinance placed on its second reading
• alderman Peal seconded the motion,which received the unanimous vote of the Counuil, and
the Mayor declared carried, as there were 8 Ayes, and no Nays.
The Ordinance was read the second time by the Clerk, and after discussion,
alderman Gregory made a motion that the rules be further suspended, and the Ordinance
placed on its third and final reading, seconded by alderman Hosford, which recedved the
unanimous vote -.of the Council, and the Mayor declared carried, as there were 8 Ayes.And
no Neys
The Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time.

West Lafayette Street between the West Line of North West Street and the Eas,tLine of
Gregg Street within the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. This motion was seconded by
alderman Hosford. and reeeived the unanimous vote of the Council.
AldermanUcker made a motion that the rules befurther suspended, and the
Ordinance placed on its third and final reading, seconded by alderman Bronson, which re,
ceived the unanimous vote of the Council. and the Mayor declared, carried, as there
were 8 Ayes•e aged no Nays.
The Ordinance was read the third and final time by the Clerk.
The Mayor then put the question "Shall the Ordinance pass"and on roll eal
by the Clerk reveived the following vote: Ayes: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford,Peal,
Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays. None. And the Mayor declared passed, as there were 8 Ayi
and no Nays;

Alderman Shook moved that the emergency clause be adopted, secondeg by
alderman Carter, and on roll trill by the Clerk received the following vote: Ayes: ronson,

AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES ON WEST LAFAYETTE STREET BE
WEST LINE OF WEST STREET AND'THE EAST LINE OF GREGG STREET, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas:
SECTION ONE: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park
vehicle on the pavedportion of West Lafayette Street between the West Line of North
Street and the East Line of Gregg Street mvithin the City of Fayetteville.. Arkansas.
SECTION TVIO: Any person, firm or corporation villating the terms of this Ordir
hall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of not less than $1.00
or more than $10.00.
SE6T ION THREE: .All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
repealed and it appearing that a new overpass over the Frisco Railroad has just been con
parked vehtetes will block traffic and endanger the safety of pedestrians and motor vehi
operators, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full
from and after its passage, approval and publication .

The question of holding a Special Election on the proposed Garbagei Ordinance
came up for discussion, alderman Bronson made a motion that a call for a special electic
be made, seconded by alderman Peal „and on roll call by the Clerk the following vote was
received: Ayes: Bronson, Hosford and Peal. Nays Carter, Gregory, Sanders, Shook and Uck
and the Mayor declared the motion ldst, as there were 3 Ayes. and 5 Nays;'
Mr.W.F.Thomasy of the South Western Gas & electric boo appeared before the
Council and stated that the ownership .of the 2300 volt power Line out to the Pump Static
was in doubt, and asked that the Council take some steps to clear up the ownership, as t
needed to make some repairs om the line,alderman Bronson made a motion that the matter b
referred to thr Light Committee, with power to act, seconded,by alderman Carter, which w
passed unanimously by the Council,
Prof. F.S.Root ap eared before the Council, and extended an invitatiog for
all of them to a "Steak Dinner' at 6 O,'clock P.M. Tuesday, which was readily accepted.

Alderman Bronson made a motion than the City Offices be closed on Saturday
afternoon during the months of July and August, but was lost for lack of a second;
Alderman �'Uckery made a motion that the Janitor be allowed a two weeks vaca-
tion, with pay, seconded by alderman Peal, which received the unanimous vote of the Council.
Alderman Gregory made a motion that the Council go into executive session,)
seconded by alderman Shook, which was duly passed by the Council, amd the Mayor declared
the Council in executive session, after discussion of various administr4tive matters, alderman
Gregory made a motion that the Council go out of executive session, seconded by alderman
Shook,which received the unanimous vote of the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council

The matter of the City Engineer needing help in making the survey for sidewalks
was presented, and alderman Gregory made a motion that the Street Committee be given the' power
to authorize help for the City Engineer whenever they thoug7gtit was necessary, this motion
was seconded by alderman Hosford, and rece6ved the unanimous vote of the Counui1.
No further business appearing, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Ucker, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned':
