There being no further business, alderman Sanders moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Ucker, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

Minutes of the regular meeting of June 19th, were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal,chairman of
the auditing committee: Jackson Cafe $$2.00, Lyle Allen $13.75, S.P.Gas & Electric Co.

be allowed, as approved, seconded by alderman Ucker, which was dully passed by the
Council.
G.c.Dakon The request of G.C.Dakon for a refunds for money paid out by him for having
Refund some sewer cleaned out,came up again and after discussion, alderman Peal made a mo-
tion that the amount of $2.50 be allowed, seconded by alderman Bronson, and on roll
call by the Clerk, the following vote resulted: Ayes; Bronson, Peal, Shook and Ucker.
Nays; Gregory, Hosford and Sanders. Absent and not voting; Carter. and the Mayor declar
ed, carried, as there were 4 Ayes. and 3 Nays.

Mr Patrick appeared before,the Council and requested permission to erect
a Hangar at the Air fort, alderman Sanders made a motion that his request be granted
provided that it be done under the supervision of the City Engimeer, and that he agree
to remove the haar at any time the Council should order him to do so. alderman Ucker
seconded the motion, which received the unanimous vote of the Council;
Alderman Sanders, chairman of the committee appointed to investigate the
license fees of Restaurants, Lunch Rooms and Meat Markets, recommended that the license
fees of the Restaurants be reduced from $25.00 to $15,00, and that no change be made
in the fees for Lunch Rooms and Meat Markets, Alderman Hosford made a motion that the
report be received and referred to -the Ordinance'Committee, seconded by alderman Bronso
which received the unanimous vote df the Council'.
Alderman Gregory introduced an Ordinance, entdtled "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE PAYMENT OF LICENSES ON CERTAIN GASOLINE SERVICE PUMPS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES."
-The Ordimance was read in its entirety by the City Clerk, alderman Ucker
moved that thg rules be suspended, and the drdi.mance placed on its second reading,
alderman Hosford seconded the motion,and on roll call by the Clerk received the unani-
mous•vote of the Council, and the Mayor declared carried, as there were 8 Ayes, and no
Nays.
The Ordinance was read the second time by the Clerk, and after discussion,
alderman Ucker made a motion that Section Three be amended to pead as follows:
Any person, firm or corporation violating the terms of this ordinance, or failing to
pay the license, herein 9KYJAMUOX prescribed shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
punishable by a fine of not less than $$10.00 nor more than x`50.00.
Alderman Hosford seconded this motion, which received the unanimous vote of
the Council„ and the Mayor declared carried, as there were 8 Ayes, and no Nays:'
Alderman,Hosford made a mot'don that the rules be further suspended and the
Ordinance placed on its third and,final reading, seconded by alderman Ucker, which
received the unanimous. vote of ,the Council, and the Mayor decladed carried, as there
were 8,Ayes and no Nays.
The Ordinance was read the third,and final time by tithe Clerk.
The Mayor then gut the question " Shall the Ordinance pass" on the Clerk
calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes: Carterp�regory, Hosford, Shook
and Ucker. Nays; Bronson, Peal and Sanders* and the Mayor declared carried, as there
were 5 Ayes,and 3 Nays.
Alderman Gregory made a motion that the emergency clause be adopted, secon
ed by alderman Shook, and on roll ceall by the Clerk ,received the following vodse:
Ayes: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. And the Mayor
declared the emergency clause apopted, as
there were 8 Ages, and no Nays.

AN CR_DyINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF LICENSES„ ON CERTAIN .GASOLINE SERVICE MIPS
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES*"
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas:
SECTION ONE: All dasoline pumps located on private propertt which are capable
of, or adapted to the servicing of,motor vehicles while parked either on the public
walkways or sidewalks, shall be licensed in the manner and for the amounts now or herei
after provided by Ordinance for Gasmline Curb Pumps.
SECTION TV10: This Ordinance shall not`be construed as permitting the extension
of gasoline pump hose across any sidewalk within the City of Fayetteville, thereby obstruct-
ing the public 9'idewalks.
SECTION THREE: Any,person, firm or corporation violating the terms of this
Ordinance, or failing to pay the license, herein prescribed shall be -guilty of a misde eanor
and punishable by a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more tUan $50.00.
SECTION FOUR: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed, and it appearipg that many persons, firms and corporations are using
Gasoline Pumps for the servicing of motor vehicles in the same manner as Curb Pumps,
and.are not payin& the license required of Curb Pump Operators, and this Ordinance
being necessary fpr the preservation of the 13ublic health, peace.and safety, an emerge cy
is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication.
Passed and approved this 26th day of June, 1939.

POLICEThe question of vacations for the Police Department came up for discussion..
VACATIONS and alderman Sanders made a motion that they be allowed two weeks vacation. provided
all are taken before the 1st of September, the motion was seconded by alderman Peal,
which was passed unanimously by the Council.
REFERENDUM '
PETITION The City Clerk made a report on the new petition that had been filed asking ,f or
a referendum on the Garbage disposal Ordinance, stating that the petition had 18 validl;
signatures, and as only 12 were required, there was a sufficient number on_the petition.
The matter of calling a Special Election was discussed, but no action was taken:
There being no further'business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconds
by alderman Ucker, which wqs duly passed by the Council. and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

The churches of thisCity, located on main -traveled streets and thoroughfares, are disturbed-
by
isturbed by traffic during the summer months, it is necessary tokeep the church windows open during
QUlE'? hours of worship. Passing vehicles can be heard by the worshippers within the church buildings,

vSTABLISHED Therefore, we petition and request, through the local Ministerial Alliance, that }Q
RUIET ZONES be established within the areas of each separate church: These zones to be arked
only when services or meetings are being held in the buildings.
Further, we Eequest, that markers for these zones be made available through the City.. •
If these were portable they could be set-up or removed at the discretion of the caretakers
of the various churches. This would not inconvenience chauffeurs except at certain times.
