addition was presented , and alderman Ucker made a.motion that the plat be accepted
and filed, seconded by alderman Bronson and on roll call by,the Clerk the following
vote resulted: Ayes; Bronson, Grego ry, Hosford, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays:
Carter and Peal. and the Mayor declared carried, as there were 6 Ayes and 2 Mays.
Th•eebeing no fuether business, alderman Bronson moved to adgourn,.sub.ject
to the call of the Mayor, seconded by alderman,Ucker, which was duly passed by the Council
and the mayor declared the Council adjourned.

Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, February 20th, 1939/
Present; Mayor, A.Bi.McAllister. City Clerk, J.W.McGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickson,
City Engineer, E.T.Brown, Aldermen; Bronson, Cabter, Hosford, Peal,Sanders, Shook and
Ucker. Absent; alderman Gregory.
Minutes of the regular meeting og r'eb 13th were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of
the auditing committee: Jackson Cafe $p4.05, S.W.Bell Telephone Co. $63.58,Citizens Laun;
dry $1.600 Lyle Allen $7.75, Herbert Hatfield $2.10, Farmers Marketp0.60 Ben P rter $17.509
Elmer Boyd $ 10.00,Harper Brush Works $31.99, A.F.Shumate $20:.00, Willlie.Wilcox 12.00,
and A.D.McAllister $3.50. Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as
approved, seconded by alderman Carter, which was duly passed by the Council.
A communication was read from H.U.Campbell, Secretary of the Western Methodist
ssembly asking the City to cooperate with the Superintendant of the Assembly in building
and maintainng drives up to and around the grounds, alderman Sanders stated that the Street
committee was alre*ady working with Mr.Yancy on this proposition, amd it was decided that
no action on the communication was neccessary at this time,.
ilson The Mayor presented the request of Mrs.B.N.Wilson to gravel the Curb neat to
her residence, but after discussion, it was decided to report to her that the Council was
working on a proposition to widen the Street at that point.
The report of Paving District 43 was presented, as was also the resignation
of Dr.C.G.Melton as Commissioner ggv tSh}s distriet,for the reason that he had sold his
proprty in that district. Alderma$ adi amotion that the report be received and referred
to the auditing committee, seconded by alderman Shook which received the unanimous vote of the
Council (present).
ort The auditing committee reported that they had EXA�fnllpeP the final report of
South College Avenue Paving district No.l, and alderman<r Peal made a motion that the
report be approved and the District closed, seconded by alderman Hosford, which was
regularly passed by the Council.
The Committee appointed to investigate assessments in Street Improvement 14ANX
Distrdct No. 47 made its report and recommendations which was filed and approved.
Thereupon alderman Shook introduced a Resolution and mdved its adoption, which motion
was seconded by alderman Ucker. Upon the roll call there were six votes in the affirmative,
alderman Sanders not voting. The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution adopted, said
resolution is in'words and figures as'follows. towit:

'T WHEREAS, several property owners in Street Improvement District No.47 of the
City of rayetteville, Arkansas, have filed protests with the City Clerk of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas, and said protests have been submitted to the j&3% S-dMX City.Council
of the City of Fayetteville, and said protests have been referr6 d to a committee of the
Council appointed for the purpose of determining the benefits derived and
WHEREAS, said committee has made its report, which report has been approved and.
adopted by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville;
NOVd,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, that the assessments heretofore filed with the City Clerk of the City of Fayette-
ville be amended insofar as'they are conflicting with this and the assessments on the

The Ordinance was read in its entirety by the City Clerk. Alderman Ucker moved
that the rules be suspended, and the ordinance placed on its second reading, alderman
Hosford seconded the motion, and on roll call by the Clerk received the followin vote
Ayes; Bronson, Carter,Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Absent adn not vo ing;
Gregory. And the Mayor declared passed, as there were 7 Ayes and no Nays.

AN ORDINANCE LEVYING THE ASSESSMENT OF BENEFITS TO THE REAL
PROPERTY WITHIN STREET IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT$ N0. 47 OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE.
1.1HEREAS, Two thirds in value of t)ae property holders owning property adjoining
the locality to be affected situated in Steeet Improvement District No. 47 of the City
of Fayetteville, Arkansas,organlIzed for the purpose of improving Streets embraced in
said district, have petitioned the Couhcil of the= City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,for
the construction of said improvement, and that the cost thereof shallbe assessed upom
the real property of said district according to benefits received; and,
Estimated 71HEREAS, said benefits received by each and every block, lot and parcel of real
cAst of property;rsituated in said district equals or excedds the local assessment thereon; and,

SECTION. 1. That said several blocks, lots and parcels of real property in

as the same now remains in the office of the Recorder or Clerk, and iM yen l}Odper
centum on each of said. blocks, lots and parcels shall be paid annually, on or before
the first day of February in each year, beginnig on February 1, 1940

SECTION. 2 . ALL ordinances and parts of ordimances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed, and it appearing that the contract for the improvements contem
district has already been let, and that the work is being delayed, and this ordinan
neccessary for the preservation of public peace, health and safety, an emergency is
declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and aft
passage and publication.

KJ§XHXRXHAMMXX The Clerk read a request from H.C.Hansen, County Supervdsor of
the FARM SECURITY ADMINISTRATION for permission to erect a sign at the enteance to hi
office, which would have to be lower than the building ordinance requires, Alderman
SAnders made a motion that a committee of two be appointed to act with the Mayor, an
that the Com mittee have power to act, alderman Peal seconded the motion, which was r
passed by the Council, and the Mayor appointed the following Committee; Aldermen;
Sanders and Ucker.
The Mayor presented the request of Mrs. Waterman to buy the Horse`'Trough
belonging to the City, after disculsion it was decided to tell her that it was not fo
sale at the present time.
The Mayor presented the proposition of laying a sewer line to the new Leverette
wer line School, Alderman Sanders made amotion that the matter be referred to the Sevier Committee
o LevereI with power to act, seconded by alderman Hosford which received the unanimous vdte of all

Alderman Peal, chairman of the auditing committee reported that he had examined
the report of the Commissioners of Paving District No 43, and made a motion that the report be
approved and filed, and that Dr. Meltonts resignation as a member of'the Commissioners of
this district, be accepted, alderman Shook seconded the motion, which was passed in the regular
away.
There being no further business, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn till
Wednesday, March Ist at Seven- thirty P.M., seconded by alderman Bronson. which was
duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.

plan to extend the City limits, which had been recommended by a special committee from the
' Chamber of Commerce, by the planning Board and other groups, after a general discussion
of the proposition; alderman Sanders made a motion that a committee be appointed to
meet with a commdttee from each sectionito be affected, to see if some plan for apetition
to be annexed, can be worked out, this motion was seconded by alderman Peal, and on roll
call by the Clerk, received the unanimous vote of all members of the Council, presentol
