The City of Fayetteville, XJBtKRAXKX State of Arkansas, hereinafter referrXed'9 to
as the City, and the Arkansas Highway Department, hereinafter referred to as the High-
way Department, hereby.agrees as follows:
1.That the Highway Department will submit a project for the improvement of 0.118
miles of the city street highway from Fayetteville to Huntsville, known as mission7vera
a,nd to be designated as F.a.S. Project No. 36-B (1), and will recommend its approval by
the'Secretary of Agriculture for construction with funds apportioned to the State under
the Federal Highway Act as amended and supplemented; subject, however,.to the condition
that the City of Fayetteville shall provide for.its proper maintenance after completion
of its improvement,
2.'That the said city 'of Fayetteville hereby requests the.Hlghway Department -to
ubmit the aforementioned project with recommendation that it be approved by the Secret
y of Agriculture, and agrees that if such project ip approved and constructed by the
ighway Department and the Secretary of Agriculture, it thereafter, at its own cost and
xpense, will maintain the project in a manner satisfactory to them, or theirauthorized
epresentatives, and will make ample provision each year for such maintainance.

f Fayetteville, on the 16th'day of January, 1939, and the Highway Department on the
9th day of January, 1939•

Mayor A.D.McAllister and Alderman A.C. Ucker reported on the trip they made to
ittle Rock last week to attend the meeting of the Arkansas Municipal League, which is
aking an effort to secure a small per cent of the gasoline turnback money for use ffXJXo:
ity Streets. Alderman Peal made a motion that their expenses to Little R60k, amounting
o $29.62 be paid, seconded by alderman Gregory, which received the unanimous vote of
he Council.
Alderman Sanders, chairman of the Street committee, reco,ariended that the
ffer of the Royal Crown Company to place safety signs along the pedestrian lanes, be re,
used. Alderman Holford made a motion that the report be received and accepted, seconded
y alderman Peal, which was regularly passed by the Council.
The Clerk read the four bids submitted relative to the purchase of a new
ruck for the Street Department, and after disneussion, alderman Peal made a motion that
he bid submitted by the Philipps motor Co. on an International Truck be accepted, subject
o the approval of the Board of Public:Affairs, alderman Gregory seconded the motion, and!fgt )lvi33

Fayetteville City Council met in adjourned session,Tuesday,January 17th, 1939
Present: Mayor; A.D.McAllister, City Clerk. J X,McGehee, City Attorney, Price Dickson,
City Engineer,•E.T.Brown. aldermen•; Bronson, 0Ktet%xX Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal,
Sanders, Shook and Ucker .
The minutes of the previous rneetingof January 16th, were dispensed with, and the
Clerk read the following protests of Property owners in Improvement district No.47, to
their assessment, in this district; which had been filed with the Clerk on January, 6th,)
1939: The St.Louis Sanfraneisco Railway Co., Hugh M.Lawson,D.Y.Holcomb, G.T.Sanders,
L.Pasearelli,MargaretOGalloway, and Karl&Bonnie Gieenha*.
After discussion,alderman Gregory made a motion that the 'Railway Co. be grants
time untill January, 30th;�VO make a survey and gather some more information relative t
the improvement district, alderman Hosford- seconded the motion, which received the unani
vote of the Council,

Thera being no further business, alderman Ucker moved to adjourn, seconded by
alderman Bronson, which was duly passed by the Council. and the Mayor declared the Council
adjourned,
