Fayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday Oct.3Ist,I938.
Present: Mayor,A.D.McAllister, City Clerk, J.W.McGehee, City Attorney, Brice Dickson,
City Engineer, E.T.Brown, Aldermen; Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders,
Shook and Ucker.
Minutes -of the regular meeting of October 24th were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of

Alderman Bronson made a motion that the bills be allowed, as approved, and that
the City Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for the same upon the proper funds, alders
Ucker seconded the motion, which was duly passed by the Council.
Bernal Seamster appeared before the. Council and presented apetition Of the
.Industrial Finance Co., requesting a.permit to re -roof and make minor 'repairs on a
warehouse building, located on lot I5F in block 6 County Court Plat, on which , the Bui
Inspector had refused to issue a permit.
Alderman Sanders made a motion that the request
be granted, alderman Ucker seconded the motion, and on roll call by the Clerk, the fol-
lowing vote resulted;Ayes; Sanders and Ucker. Nays: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford,
Peal, and Shook.
And the Mayor declaredthe motion lost as there were 2 Ayes, and 6 nays
Alderman Bronson made a motion that the Fire Chief and the Fire Committee ask
for at least three bids on some Fire Hose, and report back to the Council, alderman Pea
seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
There being no furthef business;, alderman Bronson made a motion to adjourn,
seconded by alderman Hosford, which was duly passed by the Council*
and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. n

After discussion, alderman Gregory moved that the recomendation of the Finance Committee
be accepted „seconded by alderman Peal, and upon the question being put before the Council
the following vote resulted; Ayes: Aldermen ; Bronso �A�Ca;ter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal,
>anders, Shook and Ucker. Nays:none. The Mayor declare, r� tharen were 8 ayes and no nays.

Odlevy Taxes for•the year I938supon the rea-l—ard res—aPersonal property within the Corporate
.imits of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNVGIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE% ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: That the rate of Taxes for the City GENERAL FUND purposes, for the
year I9381 be, and the same is hereby declared to be E Tmills on each dollar of
assessed valuation of all real and personal property within the corporate limits of the
City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, as shown by the assessment books for State and County
purposes, and that the same is hereby levied: and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized and directed to certify this levy to the County Clerk of Washington County,
Arkansas, to the end that the same be placed on the Tax Books and collected with

the State and County Taxes,
SECTION TWO: That the rate rate of Taxes for the FIRE DEPARTMENT purposes,for
the year I9381 be, and the same is hereby declared to be LF(2281 Mills
on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and persona property w thin the
Corporate limits of the City of•Fayetteville, Arkansas, as shown by the assessment
Books for State and County purposes, and that the same is hereby levied; and the May
the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to certify this levy to the County
Clerk of Washington County, Arkansas, to the end thab the same be placed on the Tax B
and collected with the State and County Taxes.
