Fayetteville= City Council met'in regular session Monday Oct. 24th I938.
Present; Mayor, A•.D.Meallister, CityC1erk,J.w.MaGehee, City A##orney,Price Dickson,
City Engineer, E'.T.Brow4n, aldermen; Garter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders,Shook
and Ucker. Absent; Alderman Bronson.
Minutes of the regular meeting of Oct 17th were read and approved, .
The following bills were presented,after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman of
the auditing committee; Faubus Cafe $2.50, S.W.Bell Telephone Co.$58.92 Heerwa n B
Co. $I.75, Milton S.Buell,$42.00,Ben Porter $I7.50,Bud Collins $12.9Q*Efiner Boyd $Y
Herschel Holloway $8.00, gill Morris $12.00, A.F.Shuate•$20 XO.9 Billie Wilcdx $12.00.
Alderman Gregory made a motion that the bills be allowed , as approved, and the
Clerkbe instructed to draw warrants for the same, upon the proper funds, alderman
Ucker seconded the motiono which was duly passed by the Council.
Alderman Peal ,chairman of the auditing committee, reported that he had examined
,the report of the commissioners of Annex No.I to College Ave. Improvement district, a:
found the same to be correct, Alderman Gregory made a motion that the report be recek
and filed, alderman Shook secondedN the motion, which was passed unanimously by the
Council.
Messrs. E.Gary and F.F.Stice of City Park Addition appeared before the Council
to protest their assessments in Annex No.I to Sewer Improvement District No..I, as beiq
out of line with the assessment of property of similar value and location in their disq
tract and more particularly the, new houses that had been constnuctedin the last few
years, and also reported the equality of assessments sybve`r the entire City Park
Addition. 11
Alderman Gregory made a motion that the Sewer Committee confer with theCom-
missioners of Annex No.I to Sewer Improvement District No.I to ascertain if any thing
can be done relative to Paving a more equitable assessment made of this district
-and committee to report back to the Council at the next regular meeting, aldermam
Carter secondedff the motion, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
N.Y.A.ProjectI The N.Y.A.Project and the Sewing project presented a request that the City %fit
Sewing Project furnish gas to heat the rooms occupied by them this winter, and alderman Ucker made a-{
request gas m6tion that their request be granted , alderman Peal seconded the motion, which was pass
forthe unanimously bSr the Council.

Alderman Sanders introduced a resolution, appointing a Board of assessors for
Street Improvement District No. 49, and moved its adoption, alderman Ucker seconded t
motion,•which received the following vote; Ald'e'rmen CArter, Gregory ,Hosford, Peal,
Sanders; Shook and Ucker. Absent and'not voting; Alderman Bronson. nays none.
and the Mayor declared the motion passed,as there were 7 ayes and no nays.

Assessors WHEREAS, The Board of Improvement of Sreet .Imp rovement District No. 49 Of th
City of Fayetteville, arkansas,haa fildd its report together with an estimates the
bi%for ;49 costof the improvement contemplated in said local Improvement district, and it appea
therefrom that the estimated cost of said imp ovement, exclusive of - interest on borro
Jas.R.Greel money, is the sum of ($6.*176.2I).9 5576Of which is ($3,396.92), being less tha
40 % of the assessed value of the real property in the district as shown by the last
OIL.Daily I ty asessment;
Jasper Pyeatt NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville
Arkansas, that said report be and the same is hereby approved; and that the making o
the assessment for said improvement be under taken; and that James R.Greer ,
Est Cost 0.11). Daily, and Jasper Pyeatt ,each of whom is an elector of the City ayettevil
No:49 Arkansas, be and they are hereby appointed as asessors for said District to assess th
benefits to be received by each lot or blockor other subdivision of lands, railroads
1%P6.,r76,2I and railroad right-of-way in said District by reason of the said proposed local impro
ment therein.

There being no further bustiness, alderman Hosford moved to adjourn, seconded
by alderman Ucker, which was duly passed by the Council, and the Mayor declared
the Council adjourned .
