Fayetteville -City Council met in regular session Monday,Sept. 12, I93&.
i Present; Mayor. A.D.McAlliister.9 City Clerk, J*W.McGehee, Ciity Attorney,
Price Dickson, City Engineer, E.T.Brown, and aldermen ; Bronson, Carter, Uregory
Hosford, Peal, Sanders,Shook and Ucker.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Sept. the 5th, were read and approved.
The folloeing bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Peal, chairman

.Motio^,was made by alderman Bronson that the bills be allowedo as approved,
and that the City Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for,the same upon the proper
funds,the motion was seconded by alderman Carter and was duly passed by the Council.
The following reports were read by the Clerk; Clyde Walters, as Fire Chief and
City Building Inspector, J.C.Massie, as Police Judge, Earl Hand, as acting Chief of
Police, Roy Nix, as Sewer service collector and J.W.McGehee as City Collector and as
City Clerk.
Motion was made by alderman Carter that -the reports be received and Med,
Alderman Peal seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
Mr. Earl Bates appeared before the Council and presented the proposition, X)
that the property owners would pave Campbell Street, if the City would bear the expense
of building a concrete culvert for the said Campbell Street.
Alderman Gregory made a motion that the matter be referred to the street
committee, with power to act, alderman Peal seconded the motion, and on roll call by
the Clerk was passed unanimously..
The Board of Governors from the Chamber of Coerce appeared before the Cow
cil, with a list of sites available for Parks, together.Sptions and prices on each site
and asked the Council to endorse a plan to submit the proposition of a bond issue to
the citizens of Fayetteville, to determine if a majority of the Citizens are in favor
,of acquiring any of the proposed sites. '
And'after a lengthy Round Table'Discussion, alderman Sanders made a motion
that a committee of three be 'appointed to meet with a commdttee,from the Chamber of
Commerce, for thepurpose of getting the proposed plan into a more concrete form,to be
presented to the Council for action.
Alderman Hosford seconded the motion, and on roll call by the Clerk, was
passed unanimously. The Mayor then appointed the following committee; Aldermen:
Holford,Ucker an$ Igaater,
Aldermade a motion that the Council go into executive session, seconded l
by aldermanPeal, ch was passed unanimously and the Mayor declared the Council in
executive session* after discussion of various administrative MXVIA.WX affairs,
alderman Bronson made a motion that the Council -go out of out of executive session,
secondedd by alderman Hosford, and on roll call by the Clerk was passed unanimously
and the Mayor declared the Council in regular session.
Alderman Ucker made a motion tha�he Mayor and City Clerk be _
authorized to execute a quit claim deed to Helen R.Ferguson, ed
Mary C.Penick,Elizabeth E.Rhodes, Thomas S.Rissir,Harriett C.
Rissir and heirs and assigns forever. For such property as lies all all
due East of the Property of above named persons, and as will be X15 Ucki
abandoned by the City, in the changing of Gregg Street, in cones
nection wLth the construction of the Lafayette Street Overpass by
such deed being a part of the consideration of the acquisition uno
of a strip ofland on the South side of this property,
alderman Shook seconded the motion, and on roll call by the Clerk
the following vote„resulted; Ayes: Aldermen ; Bonson,Hosford, Peal, x
Shook and Ucker. Nom: Aldermem; Carter and Sanders. Absent and
not voting; alderman Gregory.
The Mayor declared themotion carried,_as there were 5 ayes and 2 nayo. -

Motion was made b$r alderman UclFer that -the bills_be.allowed, as approved,and

alderman Bronson seconded the motion* which was duly passed by the council.
A petition from the property ownels of Rose Hill addition was presented
to the Council re.luesting that the name of"Rose Hill" addition be changed to
"University Heights” addition . , n
After discussion by the council, action was defR�red pending 4n opfon from the
city attorney as to further legal requirements. Hweman Tuck appeared before the
council to protest against proposed raise in the "curb pump".License to take effect
January lst, 1939.
Action was deferred till later.
The proposition of several city side walks being in bad condition was presented by
the mayor and after discussion it was decided to defer action till -.information could
be obtained with reference to We P. A. assistance .
y.eD Clyde Walters, City Building Inspector, reported the proposition of some
Border houses being erected on South Church Street, and that he had -stopped further
