Alderman Gregory intr6duced an ordinance, entitled AN ORDINANCE,EXTENDING A PART OF
THE FIRE ZONE OF . THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. `t
The Ordinance was read in its entirety, by the City Clerk. Alderman Brohson moved that
the rules -be suspended, and the Ordinance be placed on its second reading. Alderman
Carter seconded the motion, which was duly passed by the Concil.
The Clerk read the Ordinance the second time, and after discussion, alderman Sanders
moved, that the rules be further suspended, and the ordinance be placed on its third
and final reading, alderman Hosford seconded the motion whichlearried unanimously.
The Clerk then read the ordinance, the third and final time.
The Mayor then put the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass". On the Clerk callii
the roll, the following vote resulted; fiyes:Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal,
Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays; none.
Alderman Shook moved that the emergency clause be adopted, alderman Peal seconded
the motion,and on the Clerk calling the roll, the following vote resulted; Ayes:
Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal,Sanders, Shook and Ucker. Nays; None: The
Mayor declared the Emergency Clause carried, as there were 8 Ayes and no Nays.

Dicksoin street to the place of beginning.
Section Two: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section Three: In view of the gNhXX expansionof the business area om Dickson
Street, and,the desire to erect business buildings, and this ordinance being necces-
sary for the preservation of the ptAce, health and safety of the residents of the C.
of Fayetteville: An emergency is hereby declared,.%N and this ordinance.shall be in
full force and effect, from and after its passage, approval and publication.

The minutes of the regular meeting of August the Ist and of the adjourned meeting
of August the 2nd, were read and approved.
The following bills were presented, after their approval by alderman Pea X. chairma

Motion made by alderman Bronson that bhe bills be allowed, as approved, and that
the City Clerk be instucted to draw warrants for the same upon the proper funds,
the motion was seconded by alderman Ucker, and was duly passed by the Council.
Bert Watson appeared before the Council and asked relief from fines for over -
parking. After discussion by the Council, alderman Peal made a motion that the
'Bert Watson matter be left to the discretion of the Police Judge, alderman Carter seconded
the motion, and on roll call by.. the Clerk, was passed unanimously.
Dr.Turner appeared before the Council and made a statement relative to the
unsanitary conditions existing in certain parts of theCity, and alderman Peal made
a motion that the ordinance relating to Sewer connections, be amended to include
Dr. Turner "Water" connections, to the end that said ordinance, when amended, would go a lonE
about way toward correcting the unsanitary conditions mentioned by Dr. Turner. This mo -

unanimously.
The Commissioners of Water Improvement District # 2 appeared before the Council,
in response to a -written request from the Council, for' them to do so, and after a

Motion was, made by alderman Gregory that the mills be allowed, as
approved, and that the City Clerk be instructed to draw warrants for the same , upon the proper X
funds, the motion was seconded by alderman Shook and was passed unanimously by the Council.
Earl Hand, Acting Chief Of Police, appeared before the Council, and asked for
one Special Police, to serve each Saturday after noon and Night, from 2 P.M, till 2 A. .
Alderman Bronson made a motion that his request be granted, alderman Peal seconded the
motionK.which was passed inanimously by the Council.
The following reports for July, were:read by the Clerk: Clyde Walters as Building
tsinspector and as Fire Chief, J.C.Massie, as Police Judge, Earl Hand,as acting Chief ofX_
PoliceRoy Nix as Sewer Service Collector, J.W.McGehee,as City Collector and as City clerk.
Alderman Ucker made a motion, seconded by alderman Carter that the reports be
received and filed, which was duly passed by the Codncil.
Alderman Ucker made a motion that a legal notice be prepared by the city Attorne
and mailed by the City Clerk to the Commissioners of Sewer Ikprovement District No. I
relative td) repair of pavement on Rollston Ave. Motion was seconded by alderman Shook,
and was passed unanimously by the Council.

material, with which this street may be repaired, and also has employees, experienced in
