McAllister; City Attorney Price Dickson; City Engineer, E. T. Brown; Aldermen: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook, Ucker. Minutes of the call meeting held June 1, 1938 were read and approved. The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of thr Auditing Committee: Coles Cafe, $$10.30; Arkansas Western Gas Company, $2.99; Southwestern Gas & Electric Company, $$15.91; Fayetteville Lumber & Cement Company, $$7.86; Jas. Farrar Lewis,M. D. $3.00; Hugh Barnes, $2.50; Phillips Motor Company, $0.82; Fayetteville Lumber & Cement Company, $3.91; H. L. Tuck Super Service, $$34.54; Dave Rose, $p7.50; Ben Porter, $$17.50; Bud Collins, $$10.00; Emmett Boyd, $10.00; M.,S. Gabbard, $3.00; A. F. Shumate, $20.00; Billie Wilcox, $$12.00; T. J. Gilstrap Lumber Company, 03.64; Ozark Grocer Company, $$11.75; Red Cross Dryg Store, $$10.56; Lewis Bros. Company, 4P4.92; Lewis Chevrolet Company, w2.23; Red Ball Transfer Company, $2.50; H. L. Tuck Super Service, $6.89; Alderman Gregory moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instfiucted to draw warrants for same on the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson and received the unanimous vote of the Council. Reports for April and May of -the City Clerk and City Collector, Acting Chief of Police, Police Judge, Building Inspector and Roy Nix, Sewer Service Collector, were read. Alderman Bronson moved that the reports of the various officers be filed after deduction of $550.00 for Sewer Project #1014-R from the April and May reports of the City Collector. Alderman Shook seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Alderman Peal,moved that the Council go into executive session. Alderman Carter sec- onded the motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor declared the Council in executive session. The applications for the position of City Clerk and Collector left vacant by the death of Otoe Phillips, were discussed. Alderman Gregory moved that the Council go out of executive session. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which was duly passed by .the Council. The Mayor declared the Council -in regular session. A motion was made by Alderman Bronson that J. Via McGehee be appointed Clerk and Coll- ector until the next City General Election. Alderman Shook seconded the motion whi-cli received the unanimous vote of the Council. Alderman Sanders moved that the request of W. C. i"dhitfield to park in the driveway ad- jacent to his show room be denied. Alderman Gregory seconded the motion which carried unanimously. A resolution of respect on the death of Otoe Phillips was introduced by Alderman Gregory, Chairman of the Obdinance Committee. Blderman Peal made the motion that the Resolution be adopted. Alderman Carter seconded the motion which received the unanim vote of the Council. RESOLUTION Whereas, in the passing of Otoe Phillips the City of Fayetteville has lost an efficient and capable City Clerk, and to commemorat , Whereas, Otoe Phillips, as a public servant has always been faithful and trustworthy in the performance of his duties, and by reason of his acts has brought credit both to himself and to those whom he served, &nd, i /,y (e_y Whereas, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville to commemorat his services as a public official and to express our sympathy to members of the family, Now, therefore, be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that our condolences .be extended to the bereaved family.
