Brown, Aldermen: Bronson, Carter, Gregory, Hosford, Peal, Sanders, Shook and Ucker. 4inutes: Minutes of the regular meeting held April 41 1938, were read -and approved. ;ills: The following bills were presented after their approval by Alderman Peal, Chairman of the Auditing Committee; Cole's Cafe, $7.30; S. W. Bell Telephone Co. $75.98; Salsbur Machine Shop $0.50; Beri Porter 1$1.30; Powell Bros, Truck Line 1$2.02; Lyons Mch. Co. �p30 N. W. Arkansas Times $4.86; S. 6^!. Gas & Elec Co 1$14.29; Jack Vonberg $1.00; Clarence Couch 1$1.00; Cleo Morris $3.00; B. E. Tune $8.00; Emmett Boyd 1$10.00; Bud Collins $10.0 Ben Porter $17.50; H. L. Tuck Super Service 1$36.06; Standard Oil Co $204.00; A. F. Shumate $20.00; Bill Wilcox $11.00; H. L. Tuck Super Service $3.66. Alderman Ucker moved that the bills be allowed as approved and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrant °v uPon the proper funds. The motion was seconded by Alderman Carter and received the nanimous vote of the Council. Victor E. Russum appeared before the Council relative to making two voting precints in Wards Two and Three. The matter of changing the name of Springdale Road to College Avenue and College Avenue from'Prospect ton,Northe.Street to Pollard Avenue was discussed. Alderman Gregory moved that an ordinance be drawn up to this effect for next meeting night. Alderman Bronson seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The purchase by the Street Committee of an oil tank was discussed. Alderman Gregory moved that the Street Committee purchase this tank and consider locating on the ity's lot below the Courthouse. Alderman Hosford seconded this motion which received the unanimous vote of the Council. Acting Chief of Police Earl Hand appeared before the Council stating that frequent entrances in buildings on the east side of the square had been consumated and thought necessary to employ a man to watch inside the stores. Alderman Gregory moved that 1$7.6 be allowed for special police help three nights. Alderman Hosford seconded the motion The motion was carried unanimously. Clean UP The matter of "Clean Up Week" was brought to the attention of the Council by the Mayor. Week After discussion,. Alderman Bronson moved that April 25th to 30th be declared "Clean UP Week", City•to haul trash free. Alderman Carter seconded the motion. On the Clerks calling the roll the following vote resulted: Ayes:- Bronson; Carter; Hosford; Peal; Sanders; Shook: Ucker. Nays:- Gregory. The Mayor declared carried as there were seven Ayes and one Nay. The condition of the south part of Jail wall was discussed. Alderman Bronson movedthat matter be' referred to the Building Committee.. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which carried unanimously. Alderman GregoXy moved that the Council adjourn sine die. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which carri d unanimously and the Mayor so declared. Attest:Approved: Q,�. o CitY Clerk Mayor The ?.Tayor called the Coundil together and administered the oath of office to the following: Otoe Phillips, City Clerk; Price Dickson, City Atty; Witt Carter, Alderman lst Ward; Earl Shook, Alderman 2nd "lard; A. C. (Jack) Ucker, Alderman 3rd Ward; H. M. Hosford, Alderman 4th Ward; for the various offices to which elected. Alderman Bronson moved that the Council go into executive session. Alderman Peal sec- onded the motion which was duly passed by the Council. After discussion of various matters Alderman Hosford moved that the Council go out of executive session. Alderman Ucker seconded the motion which was duly passed by the Council. The Mayor declared the Council in regular session. Alderman Shook moved that the Utility Committee and City Attorney be authorized to go to Little Rock when deemed necessary. Alderman Peal seconded the motion which was carried unanimously*& The Mayor so declared. Alderman Bronson moved that the Council adjourn.
